peter richards
looks good on the car edd but not legal
Class One
Of course the black & white ones are illegal and only for show right? Because if you get caught persistently using them, then those nice folks at the DVLA WILL take your private plate away from you and issue with a Q plate. Just for info. Daston
why are they illigal? Surly if they are legal for old classics they must be ok for us??
JustGav
Nope... they are illegal... Mind you I know a certain UK owner with them on, who has got away with it for a while now *cough* *graham* *cough*
Rayman
Seen these black plates on a honda s2000 earlier in the week, looked good the S2K was black too!
Class One
why are they illigal? Surly if they are legal for old classics they must be ok for us?? Nope only legal for pre 1973 cars. After that cars are subject to the vehicle licensing and excise act IIRC which goes on about types and styles of plate.
downimpact
The whole back of your supra looks really sweet, love the blacked out lights and co-ordination. Yeah the black plates look better, not legal but whats the max penalty?
R Black
Black and chrome looks great, i got them on me Mustang, you can also get them with the chrome having a kinda corrigated effect sounds naff but looks tops in the flesh, but yes they are all illegal as stated above, shame that, as i think they look really cool. R Black
Think it depends on the cop, traffic would nab u straight away, doubt you would get a fine, probably get a producer to show you had changed them. Although havent they changeg the licensing laws? i heard u cant just buy them over the shelf now.
markymark
They look really smart Edd, really sets the rear of car (it's a shame they are illegal)
SupraStar 3000
I've see dozens of cars (mostly new 4x4s) around Leicester with B/W plates on. Dough, what if I carry the standard with me to change on the spot? First officer that tells me off and I'll bin it.
R Black
I would'nt change them in front of them, as they will then know that you knew they were illegal in the first place.
SupraStar 3000
humm,,... good point!
JamesG
Looks very nice, but you don't have much in the way of reflectors on the rear of your car now. Don't park it on the road at night as someone will run into the back of it!
charlton
I would'nt change them in front of them, as they will then know that you knew they were illegal in the first place. but then you could say that you had only just put them on and had the 'old' legal ones in your car as you hadn't thrown them out. thats what I'm going to say when I get my small front number plate (already been caught without one)
SupraStar 3000
humm,,,,.... think I'll keep if for shows, pics, or special days
rush
Nope only legal for pre 1973 cars. After that cars are subject to the vehicle licensing and excise act IIRC which goes on about types and styles of plate. So what if you have a pre 73 number plate off a classic car ? I was told that it would be ok to put it on a modern car in black and silver, is this right Doug? cheers
Soonto_HAS_soop
Couldn't you get an Irish plate? They are standard in that colour aren't they? Only a suggestion though, I'm not sure of the law.
Mas
Edd the car looks ace buddy, very nice The whole back of your supra looks really sweet, love the blacked out lights and co-ordination. Yeah the black plates look better, not legal but whats the max penalty? £30 mate, I paid for mine while ago, they said if I have the same thing and I get cought I can be end up with Q number plate and will lose my private one it didnt stop him saying what a nice car though Bastid, kept asking how fast can you go with it and I kept answering 60MPH Max
toyo rob
i got my set a couple of weeks ago, liked the ook of them when i saw 'em on a new DB7 with private plate. thing is mines an import anyway, the rules are different aren't they? the sizes are different and the rear plate i got actually fills the whole of the gap in the standard bumper. SupraStar 3000
really don't want to loose my reg but would be prepared to bin this plate at the first sign or trouble. Since I hardly ever drive the car during the winter months I might see how it goes. Don't like takin the piss with the boys in blue but its harly fair when you see all those made up plates with screws that make up additional letters and odd fonts that are unreadable, not to mention all the bastards with not tax, mot or insurance
