Getrag
How on earth can they justify taking such a high fee? And for what, electronically sending from one paypal account to another which will cost very very little. Im gonna start preventing paypal payment on my ebay stuff and go for cheque or bank transfer, it really is shocking.
Kopite
Banks do the same mate, let it take 3-4 days so they earn interest on it
silvershark44
but paypal isnt even a bank!! they dont conform to the same standards! Paypal is a complete and utter rip off! But often we are left with little choice when selling on ebay. Thats why people charge like £15 for postage on regular items
Dragonball
Credit card payment can cost the retailer upwards of 2.5% on transactions - so paypal (with associated better security) is a good way of people to transfer money with confidence Well - thats the sales pitch anyway... Jive
Just found out that if you've paid by Paypal for an item costing less than £15 and that person doesn't deliver, then you have no way of claiming back through Paypal, which means you've got to chase up through your credit card .. tossers! After hearing some of the horror stories of people being ripped off through Paypal that whatever I sell through Ebay I only accept cheque or postal order. martin_a
Issue with PayPal is they have no competition. eBay owns PayPal so they don't allow other electronic transfers like Google Pay etc to operate on the site. eBay charges you to list and takes another cut when you try to retrieve your money. Total scam and something the monopoly people should look at. i reckon 90% of PayPal's business comes through eBay. m.
Nic
Pay Pal is good, quick and easy for cheaper overseas transactions. Bank charges for smaller overseas transactions are usually higher and normally take around 5 days to transfer from one account to another. Saying that Pay Pal also take the piss (and their cut) with their crap exchange rates, which are worse than any high street bank exchange rates. For larger foreign transactions it works out cheaper to use bank transfer.
Feakins
Paypal seems great if you ask me, of course their gonna charge a bit but they have to pay the fee's to take the money out of your card if you pay by credit card. Like Nic said you can send instant payments to Japan. Bank transfer takes 3 days unless you pay extra and cheque's take forever as well.
