Adam
Strangely i had the same thing on my corolla. It was the alinment. It was way out. not expensive to sort out either if its the problem. made it very fun to drive tho

Class One
Right I met up with Andy today he has a very tidy car, with a unique nose cone (modified Top Secret? Dunno) and face lift lights all round. Gave it a drive and it was strange. There is an occasional swaying at the back, its definately not tramlining and its not being upset by imperfections in the road surface. To say it was worrying is an understatement. His car has been lowered at the back he has 275 on the rear and 235 on the front on 17's and spacers on his back. My guess is that it's been lowered too much not allowing enough stroke in the dampener and too much - camber on the rears. It definately needs looking at by a specialist like CW or suchlike and needs raising by at least 10mm or even back to stock. Handling in any car let alone a sports car is paramount, but his is scary. When he went out in mine, the difference was apparent straight away. Along with the performance.
Ian W
Doug this sounds similar to the problem i have in mine with a swaying, side-to-side movement in the back. my car hasn't been lowered however and is still on stock suspension. was it intermittent or does it do it all the time? Class One
Its not all the time, certainly not an oscillilating movement consistent to say the turn of the wheels, but in say aperiod of a minute it would do it maybe 3 or 4 times. Does tht make sense. Maybe the antisway bar is missing or knackered? I don't know.

Does tht make sense. Maybe the antisway bar is missing or knackered? I don't know. sounds exactly like my problem. as you say it's not in time with wheels, revs, gear changes, cornering, accellerating, decellerating.....totally random. no less than five mechanics have checked mine including CW and he couldn't see anything wrong. have tried two sets of wheels and three sets of tyres to no avail. tyre wear is even and non-excessive. new shocks / springs made no difference either. have noticed another couple of cars on the forum coming up with a similar problem (DaveK being one of them). There simply MUST be a single component that is wearing out on these cars to cause this but what is it???
Nic
......and spacers on his back. There's your answer ps. hope you didn't nick him for a defective car after the test
Ian W
There's your answer although i would suggest he removes these to see if it helps i'm also sceptical as to whether this is the problem or not. mine certainly doesn't have spacers and has done it with both sets of wheels (including stock 16s).
