Jake
I'm trying to install a Lexmark x2470 printer/copier/Fax machine thing on somebody's PC for them. The PC is running Win ME (yes, I know) The OS isn't detercting the new printer automatically when the USB cable is detacted. When running the setup CD it goes through the printer install but stops just after saying "Detecting Printer..." with an error saying "Error copying file lxcomc.dll" (it might have been lxcomc.exe, I forget) I've tried copying the files from the Lexmark CD and running the installation from HD but still get the same error. I've tried downloading the latest drivers from the Lexmark website but still get the same error. Add Printer in the Control Panel does the same. I found and deleted a copy of lxcomc.dll from C:\Windows\System. Still the same error. Any ideas before I smash the bloody thing up?

grahamc
hammer will solve that particular issue... Generally get that error when the file in question is in use by some other process.
Todd
add remove programs and take all lexmark references out. Unplug printer Reboot and download the latest drivers http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=227:5:0:538:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=8158&searchLang=en&searchLang=en And give it another bash
