grahamc
must admit I had never heard of a young person getting a hernia, and I got mine at 22... Problem is that in SA public health care is not great, and private is expensive, and I had to pay for my surgery myself. So I could not have the "peephole" surgery done. So I now have I nice 15cm cut going straight through my lower stomach muscles... Bloody thing hurt!!! a lot! I want to carry on with something like ninjitsu, they teach such a variety of stuff, from hand-to-hand, grappling, throwing, bone/joint manipulation and weapons. And in SA our instructor used to teach us the things we are not supposed to be taught, like neck breaks, organ attacks, "soft" zones, etc. Awesome fun... Good luck! Have you had the surgery, or are you going for it?
IDO
Grahamc (sorry to everyone for going off topic a bit) Had the main surgery 2 years ago.. had the key hole stuff done twice before that and it didn't work!! And payed for them both privatly.. wiped me out more than the supra!!!! (my problems started when i was 22) then it hit me bad at 26 and i was in hospital for 3 months.. I now have a scar from my brest bone to my belly button..

Too much movement going one way or muscle pinches, etc. Dont try to push it too much these days... Im getting old.......
Bobbeh
I love watching Ernesto Hoost fight, hes great.. I saw him fight Bob Sapp and lose, but I still rate him higher. It the end of the day a real brawler who can wrestle and pin down an opponent will usually win out, just look at how many UFC matches end up, on the floor rather than with knockout blows from stand up fighting. IDO
mine seems fine now.. hope to be able to make a fight comeback! mind you i'm nearly 29, not as young as most of the competition anymore!
grahamc
My previous instructor Winston Chong (Muay Thai) won the heavy weight Thai Boxing title at 32... his first actual fight. The man was devasting... He is chinese, 6'4, and had to lose 14 kgs in order to fight... and still weighed in at 94 kgs... pure muscle. Syed Shah
Tyson in his prime. No rules = no gloves There is not a man alive who could take a un-gloved punch from such a hard-hitting heavyweight. And no matter how fast you are, you will get hit by your opponent atleast once. Yeah but one decent punch to the throat and even tyson will go down. But who would be willing to stand there and let him swing away... EDIT: Didnt he try the K1 (or cage fighting) stuff and got his ass kicked??
Syed Shah
I don't think he did - would love to see some vids of it if he did tho! True - but lets not forget how fast his hands were in his prime (faster than many lightweights - and they are quicker than 99% of MMA fighters). To be perfectly honest - when you take away gloves - the chance of lucky punches is increased massively. In such a case there is no automatic win - just someone who will win more than others - while still losing often.

Without the gloves, a lot of the punches that dont have much affect would. I am sure he tried something different like that...
dazla
He is good, but I have not seen him fight in the ring, so not sure... However, JetLi used to be a World Champion for Wushu full contact fighting, IIRC, but he is getting a bit old now. hey them kung fu guys can fight till they'r 202. have you never seen them in the films fighting with big beards and eyebrows down to there knees. the older they are the more of a master they are. grahamc
yes very true, but does limit how much of a punch they can take... unless of course, they have mastered the art of turning a person power against, quite literally... consider that JetLi is in his forties (I believe)... and he is still bouncing around...
