Well talk about having an intersting few days at work. I started working at a new station ( fire ) close to home last month and im loving it. But last week we were talking about how many jobs we had been to that had been fatals, as you do. In the 6years i have been in the job i had been to 0 that was untill afew days ago. Now i have had 2 in under a week. 1 was a bloke that got crushed and ripped in half by a big pipe and 1 an old lady in a house fire which wasnt the best at all as her head was on fire when we dragged her out. :( There would have been 2more aswell but there daughter decided to come home after a night out when she said she was staying out and found both her parents asleep smoke alarm going off and kitchen on fire. So they have started calling me doctor death now:rolleyes:

Tough few days pal. How did the guy get ripped in half by a big pipe?

I only went to one fatal when I was in the Rozzers. Some guy decided to hang himself in the middle of a housing estate from a tree. There were loads of kids there staring at him!

Inconsiderate bastard!.

Chin up.:)

The guy with the pipe was in a hole and a digger was lowering the pipe into it. One of the strops snapped and it landed on him. Dont think he would have know much about it.

Its not really as bad as i though it would be seeing it just dont think about it to much and had a million and one other things to be getting on with.

You always get people trying to get a look , we had to get the police to clear the crowed that gathered around the back of the ambulance that the old lady was put into and tryig to bloody film it on there mobiles.

Yep, kids is awful. Not nice at all :( Much much worse when you're a parent yourself.

We don't! Normally no time for it, or if they are held days later the only people who are told are the people who weren't directly involved i.e. those that were doing road blocks and not those that were trying to do CPR on a mushy body.

I'd freek out if I saw a stiffy

You should see some of the pictures I've had to take for coroners inquests etc. Just the pics make people vomit!

The other half wanted to prepare herself for joining the job & I had some fresh ones on my work memory card.

Good job she'd not eaten for a while

I remember at college I went to art gallery in Bradford called "Death". You had to be 18yrs to get in (I wasn't).

All the pictures were from crime scenes around the world and blown up to A0 size :(

Some of those pics I can still remember.

The display wasn't net to the cafe was it?? :D

Ooh can imagine when they have been left for afew weeks/months to fester aswell.

Thats bad about your debriefs as they are supposed to make sure everyone gets them and are ok with everything. Mind you I no of alot of times when its just been a phone call to the person in charge saying is everyone ok.
