Lord of the Rings WTF!

Well I enjoyed the films, never thought I would as I'm a big fan of the books. But I was pleasantly surprised. The worst thing for me was so many of Gandalf's cool lines from the book weren't included, and he didn't exactly come across as this all powerful wizard, I mean, what did he do apart from shine a light from his staff and bash a few orcs on the head.

If anyone is a fan of the books check out the BBC radio play, around 11 hours long IIRC and excellently cast :)

Recorded the BBC play when it was aired first time 24 * 30 minutes. Excellent cast, brilliant production. Highly recommended.

I grew up reading the Hobbit and the Lord of the rings. IMO Tolkein is a genius The books are incredible (I do think Jackson made a good decision to cut out the Tom Bombadil 9 chapter bit at the beginning tho) I was really impressed with the films, I've even bought the extended versions which run at over 12 hours in total :)

I agree there is a slightly worrying (more than friendly) bond between Sam and Frodo tho :)

Never heard it when it was originally, bought them when they came out on CD but they've only been played once I think. A mate at Uni years ago edited and converted them all to MP3 (took him a while!), just fits on 1 CD :D

I used to really like these films up until the point when my wife decided that she liked them so much that she could watch them near enough every night. I still like them but have seen them too many times.

The only thing that I keep thinking when I watch the films now is how long it takes for Frodo and Sam to get to mount doom. It always appears to me that by the last film Gandolf is only down the road from Frodo and he has had to do a lot of stuff whilst Frodo has been travelling to the mountain. They should of got giant eagles at the start and just flew to the mountain and dropped the ring in, job done :)

Well I think these films rock... and yeah, you're entitled to your own opinion... but in this case, if you disagree with me... I'm afraid, your wrong...

Tolkien was actually a genius, Jackson did a sterling job on bring these yarns to the big screen... and what is the point of having an art form like 'film'.. if you're not going to make massively epics films like this..?
