Kev.O
I'm having trouble starting my car. Today I've checked all the spark plugs and they are all sparking. I've also used the correct connectors and holders so I know everything is working correctly. The spark plugs are covered in fuel so I'm assuming there's fuel getting to them. I've checked for split pipes but haven't found anything. When I turn her over she isn't even trying to start it's like theres no spark, which is why I checked the plugs. I'm running out of idea's. Can anyone offer any help please? Kev

Kev.O
Well I drove the car to japfest 2 about a month ago. The car ran fine. I parked the car up in the garage and went to start it the next day. It started but was misfiring. Once I'd stopping it, it wouldn't start back up. After cleaning the spark plugs twice(first time for carbon build up and second for excess of fuel) it started but wasn't running on all 6. After a minute or two it was running fine again. I started it up two weeks again and after a few turns it started, went for a little run where it was misfiring again. The car has been sat around for two weeks on charge. It's bpu

RobSheffield
It's bpu Did you fit new plugs when you went BPU? If so, check the coil pack connectors
Kev.O
I checked them earlier. I got the coil back out and connected the correct one in the right place and put a spark plug in each one and turned the engine over.
alan_blue
did you get a apark between each terminal on each coil pack?
absz
sounds like its over fuelling on cold start? . check all your vacuum pipes for any splits and might be worth checking the coolant temperture sensor. if you just want to get the engine started then i suggest take out all plugs burn off the excess fuel of them by a small flame over the tip (gas cooker) and refit plugs hold the gas pedal half way and crank over engine. i'm sure it will fire up:) then you can checks for leaks etc while engine is running. TLicense
Step one has to be to, as Mr Harwood said, to check for fault codes.
Kev.O
I've followed the guide for fault codes but was unable to get any response from the car. I appreciate all the help guys. As for a bump start, dam it's a heavy car (being UK spec and all ) it'll take loads of people to do that.

Matt Harwood
The only downside to that, is be prepared to push it back home if it doesn't start! What happened when you checked for faults? - Did the MIL light just keep flashing?
Kev.O
No lights came on atall. It was like I wasn't doing it properly. I followed the guide that I found on here and I tried it several times!
Matt Harwood
Does your MIL light work? (the orange engine light on the right side of the dash-top panel, next to the two oil lights).
Kev.O
I'm pretty sure it does. I'll double check
Kev.O
Ok just been out to the car. When I turn the ignition on, the only lights I get on the right are the handbrake light and trc light
Matt Harwood
OK, first things first. You need to remove the dash top section, (5 screws), and re-solder the connections that go to the lamps on the right. You'll need to undo the two screws that hold the lamp cluster in place, then the two screws that hold the two pieces together. It'll be obvious when you take it apart. It's not a difficult job, and its a common fault. Once you've done that, you can check your fault codes and begin to find out why the car won't start...
