Nope - don't get it till Saturday - can't wait! Pity the weather's so drastically bad at the moment - might make me regret shelling out the extra for the Aerotop - roll on summer :)

One thing that's definitely harder with the Aerotop is getting insurance though. How are you getting on? I've ended up with Adrian Flux (were cheaper than Sky with a lower excess, and Elephant refused to insure it once they found out it was an Aerotop, otherwise they were the cheapest for an SZ).

The black ones look great though - good choice! I went over to Dunblane (Dicksons) to see a silver one, but black is best ;) And I wasn't impressed with Dicksons, about a two minute test drive and abuse when I didn't buy it immediately - charming!

Hope the wait ain't too painful, and it'll be worth it!

Tich

I was supposed to get mine on saturday too but because i've asked them to fit security it won't be ready till tuesday :(

Sky are cheapest for me so far (£399), flux (£405), higher excess with flux though, elephant etc all about £50 more - still not sure who I'll go with yet.

Been to Dicksons too...... wasn't impressed

Anyway... enjoy yourself on Saturday and go easy!!

Welcome to the club wHIZz

Looks like you have got yourself a very nice looking motor there  I suggest the first thing you do is get her to a Supra specialist, given the once over and full service, including all fluids changed.

If you need any help or advice, or I can help with supplying any OEM Toyota or aftermarket parts, please feel free to contact me by pm or via my IMPORT PIMP trade section on the forum.

cheers

Sadly no Aerotopping for me this weekend :( Mackays didn't manage to get it ready in time and reckon it'll be Tuesday this week at the earliest - gotta remain patient...

Aren't you getting yours Tues as well? Maybe I'll see you there!

Will definitely put pics up once it's in my drive :)

Aww... nightmare - you must have been gutted!.

I'm still supposed to be getting mine tomorrow - just going to head down now and sort all the paperwork so I can collect it tomorrow after work. Still got to sort out my insurance tonight - down to £358 now, fully comp with Endsleigh :D

Will let you know how I get on

Nope - mine's not ready either :( Apparently their main mechanic has been off (ill I think) and their "paint guy" failed to show up so they're running behind. Should be getting it on Thursday - let's hope this doesn't continue for too long! Good luck getting yours tomorrow - put up some pics!

Oh and £358 fully comp - that's incredible, my cheapest was £580 with Elephant. Then again I've only got 2 years no claims and am locked in with Elephant for now in order to mirror it from my second car.

PS Any idea how to thoroughly check the air con is working when it's so darn cold outside? Reading up on this forum it seems like the AC is the weakest link on the car and pretty pricey to repair if it goes wrong (and I get the impression it ain't covered by Mackays "major mechanical items" guarantee!).

Got my Soop today! - picked her up at about 5pm just when the rain started

All I can say is WOW! - first stop was petrol station (expect it to be empty tichkent!) then a slow-ish 15 mile drive home while I got used to it. Love it!

Then picked a mate up and we put it through it's paces......

To sum it up, my mate said "this is unbelieveably fast!"...... and he drives a 2006 BMW M3! :p

First couple of things noticed..... rattle from tailgate, although I think this is common and there is a fix in the forum somewhere. Also the speakers are mince so need to get posting in the ICE forum!!

I'm hoping to get some pics up at the weekend when I can take photos in daylight

Tichkent - yours was on the ramp next to mine!! - I saw it dude, and they were working on it! Hope you get it tomorrow! :D

Let the fun begin! :eyebrows:

Howz the soop? Any pics? I'm still (yes still!) waiting for mine :( They had some problem with their paint shop but hopefully I'll be picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Praying for a sunny day so I can get the roof off!

PS Yeah - the sound system in mine is pretty lame as well. Fairly decent-ish Kenwood head unit but terrible sounding speakers. Suspect an upgrade shortly after getting it may happen - gotta have good choons :)

Congratulations on your purchase and as you said the squeaky tailgate is a simple fix that is detailed on the forum. If you follow it carefully it is a cheap and easy fix. It was the first thing I had to do after collecting mine last week. A leather interior and service are next with the car booked in for a hand fitted stainless exhaust soon.

Leather interior and SS exhaust sound good Bungy... can't be very cheap though!

Tichkent, I was wondering why you hadn't updated us.... so by now you should have the Sup?? :search: - hpoe you got it ok!

I am delighted with mine.... it's a real Jekyl and Hyde! - you can drive it sensibly and it's a real good smooth cruiser OR you can sink the boot then ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! :eyebrows:

Haven't had enough daylight to take pics yet but will get them up soon...... here's my to-do list so far:

1) Replace tailgate rubbers

2) Check back of stereo to see why no sound from rears spkrs

3) Replace door speakers

4) Clean engine bay

Check out this site for all your cleaning needs!!: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/

Give us a report on your Sup!!! :trampoline:

Hi folks,

Bought my first Supra today!

It's a 93 J-Spec TT (Auto) with 38k miles on the clock and I'm delighted ( although I don't get it until next week)

I have been looking non stop for a few weeks and have read loads of threads on this and other Supra OC sites - so much imformation, can't wait to get her on the road.

She's pretty standard at the moment which is what I wanted, so I can pretty much decide what to do from the start.

Any ideas on what my first checks, mods etc should be would be gratefully received - you know, common things I should make sure of when I get her! :search:

This is a picture while still at the dealers - it is now being serviced, MoT'ed and valleted for next week!

Hurrah - yes I did! Finally picked it up late last Wednesday. Got the alloys switched from shiny chrome to more muted 5 spoke (which I think looks much better!).

Garage Pic

Am generally very pleased with the car - drives very nicely indeedy :) Quite liking the auto box as well - drives a lot more smoothly than I would ever manage! A few minor issues so far though:

* Roof coming loose while driving (and leaking once it's loose). Tried PTFE/plumbers tape but it doesn't last. However, Mackays have put some spring loaded washers in for me and so far so good (didn't come loose this morning despite Linlithgow's cobbles!)

* Lights behind AC controls are temperamental (and it's a nightmare trying to guess which button to press in the dark!). Apparently the circuit board for the lights is cracked. Hopefully they're fixing this tomorrow having had a failed attempt yesterday.

* Stereo (like yours I gather!) is just about the worst stereo I have ever heard. Gonna replace the head unit with a single din Sony CDX-GT500. Got one of these in my 323 and it sounds real good (and it only raises the antenna when the radio is on). Not sure how much to spend on speakers but gonna stick with 10cm/16.5cm front/back. Either going for the cheaper JBLs or the more expensive Infinity References (anyone reckon these are worth the extra cash?). I see a fun Xmas of continually removing the dash...

How are you getting on with yours? I'm still in two minds whether it was the right decision to go for an NA Aerotop (rather than a non-Aerotop TT) but once we get some good weather and I can get the roof off...

Final problems sorted out :) Mackays soldered the circuit board back together and think their washers are doing the trick to hold the roof on. No more rattles and a working dash - really enjoyed the drive home tonight listening to the engine rather than the roof flapping about and prodding buttons randomly to clear the windscreen!

Now onto the stereo - will be interested to hear how you get on with the Infinity Refs. I got a pair of 5x7 IRs pretty recently for my Mazda. Amazing sound quality but definitely lacking in bass in contrast with other speakers of similar size. Think I'll stick with them for now and if necessary wire in a sub later on. Tempted to try an Alpine unit (everyone here reckons they're the best). Does anyone know if they do that real annoying thing of raising the aerial all the time?

Have fun fitting the ICE - I'll be coming to you with questions :)

Congrats mate, that looks sweet!! Id go for Infinity's over JBL anyday!! if you want something with more bass go for Vibes - or even kenwoods. For pure quality you need the Infinity's, but make sure you amp them. my last car had 3 sets, once i amped them i was blown away! im trying to decide between Focal and Diamond gear at the moment but cant choose - or afford right now - any donations will be greatfully received though :trampoline:
