Compressing .mp3's

I have a large mp3 that i want to burn on to a music CD but the file is too large at 81.5mb (about 1.5hours long) is there any way i can compress the file to make it fit on a music CD?

you cannot compress a regular CD no because CD format/players is 2 channel 44.1k 16bit sampled with no compression.

 

You could trim it a little, or better still you can buy longer CDs

 

you can certainly get 80min cds, you could get most of it on if not all

 

or put it on two CDs

Can he not resample the MP3's to a lower-bit rate ?

My bad - I misunderstood. Didn't realise he wanted to convert the MP3's to a CD music format. So in which case, it wouldn't matter what bit-rate the MP3's are sampled at.

How can i split the file then? to make it into 2 files.

use some sample/audio editing software to do it.

 

if you share the mp3 somewhere I could do it for you

 

if not have a search for some editing software, there are plenty of freeware programs that can do it.
