Remember the Schwantz/Rainey era? These guys had a career long battle that began when they first started out racing in the states, and ended up battling it out in the world stage in 500gp.

When Rainey took a dive into the gravel and broke his back in '93, Schwantz went on to win the title (his only one) and subsequently retired mid season the following year claiming "there was no one left to race"

I absolutely loved this era of racing. I had my little fs1-e at the time and admired these guys so much.

Anyway, found this video and it brought back a few memorys :D ....

During a recent test we held.

I arranged for Scwantz and Mamola to be on our bikes at the same time on the track.

They couldn't resist 'racing' and it brought back great memories.

Oh to have a masters series ;)

that would be pure class. Is Eddie Lawson still about? not keen on wayne Gardner tho, he was too full of himself

Brilliant...

Reminds me of a lot earlier when we used to sneak into Mallory Park (lived just over the fields from it) to watch the Italian champion Giacomo Agostini being beaten (sometimes) by the cheeky young Barry Sheene.

Very sad that we watched BS in his last ride a few years ago at Goodwood Revival Meet.
