We've got a chime on the house alarm box, our house sounds like a corner shop every time the door opens but at least we know a doors been opened.

Then again when you come home pissed and forget to put the alarm on and lock the back door, it didn't stop some cnut coming in and taking the keys to the wifes Celica, the car itself and her handbag.

The burglars have got some balls round your way pal.!!

My mates were lucky the burglars couldn't find the keys to the Lotus on the drive. That sort of theft is massive here- which is why I'm getting around to putting the Supra in the garage- already had two attempts- the first time they tried to force my back door while I was asleep- the dog saw them off.

They've caught him.

Get this- they have no evidence to prosocute him for burglary but they can for handling stolen good- fuck me did the hand bag, phones and wallet walk themselves down to the A40!

Yeah I'm between PC World and Loudwater.

This arsehole has over 300 convictions for petty crime, handling & burglary. Clearly community punishment is not the answer. Now the plod have left the woods maybe we could tie him to a tree and shove a red hot poker up his arse.

Well my mum was robbed a couple of weeks back [shes in Brighton and owns a small sandwich cafe along the seafront], Some drug addict broke into her kitchen and stole loads of cash [lesson learnt there, cash now kept upstairs in a safe - which is not the point here by the way]. So struggling small business, the police at first were rude and obnoxious and whilst they never actually said it, they were implying it was an insurance job

They did not take statements from everyone, just my mum, and did not bother to search the local area for stuff they had stollen, but eventually when they could be bothered got a finger print from one of the kitchen drawers and found the guy, but not by investigation, by mistake as he stumbled into AE some 7 days later. Its totally disgusting. So it doesn't surprise me at all.

This type of burglary is on the up folks. Now one of the easiest and highest value crimes. They now steal cars to order.

Typical point of entry is through the back door while the owners are watching TV. Car keys on display doesn't help and neither does wallets & handbags out on tables etc. Remember to lock the back door when in other parts of the house, especially if you're in the front listening to the loud TV or music... and stick the Rottweiler in the garden ;)

And if you think you're safe & secure, take a look at your PVCu front or back door. Does it have a rubber strip around the centre panel?? If it does then all it takes to get in is to pull this strip out & remove the whole panel.

A key safe mounted on the wall is a great help, or hiding the keys somewhere not obvious.

Your insurance company won't pay out if your car is stolen off the drive using your keys, so take care.

Stolen handbags/wallets are usually dumped very close to the house with cash & credit cards removed. The next stop is the cash point to max the cards out, so don't keep the numbers with the cards!! Also these bag snatch burglaries are more common close to midnight so the thieving scum can max the cards out before midnight, then again after midnight!

EDIT - Sabrina, where's your mum's place... I'll pop in for a sarnie ;) Sorry to hear about the bad service she got. She wouldn't get that from all officers!

I was shocked by the attitude of the police, my mum is not an insurance scammer, you can tell just by looking at her, shes really not, she's too eccentric for that. It was almost like they couldn't be bothered. But im sure you're right.

Yeah if anyone fancies a sarnie..............its called the Kingsway Pantry [its Hove not Brighton - but its the same thing ]. Near the Lagoon along the sea front. Grotty looking little cafe, but great sandwichs at really good prices. AND if you say you know me, Im sure she'll give you extra filling and a free biscuit. :D
