tim_palmer
Hey guys, Need to know what the hell this means as I have no idea: Offside front lower suspension arm has slight play in a ball joint [2.4.G.3] What I was wondering is; what do I need to do about it as D8MOA( HERE) has a front lower arm n/s for sale and was wondering if I would need this and if I could fit it myself or do anything to solve the problem. Thanks
merckx
You do need a replacement suspension arm. Not difficult to replace if you're handy with a spanner and have the tools - ball joint separator , socket set , torque wrench etc.
alan_blue
why cant you change th eball joint on its own?
merckx
You cannot buy just the balljoint. It has to be the complete arm on the Supra.
RICHARDA
Like most cars. Only a failure if deemed to be excessive play.
tim_palmer
Good stuff, should i buy that bit off D8MOA then? or is it the wrong side?
merckx
Looks like he's just got the nearside one, not the offside .

Thanks Hi I had the EXACT same problem about a month ago when I went to get my MOT done..You have to replace the whole arm, my local toyota dealer quoted £200, picked it up from a Jezzy (trader) on here 2nd hand for £40 , got it fitted for £40 ,about 45 min labour, The ball joint and arm are all one piece of metal, you have to replace the whole thing.. Take a look at this thread when I had the problem..: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=84928 Hope it helps
