Just doing a new site for work. Nothing exciting. I have contribute and frontpage at the minute but I'm limited to what I can do and wanna get stuck in. Contribute is brilliant to just add text and pictures but ideally i want to start from fresh and make a new one as at the moment I'm just modding one someone else had started but I'm not keen on it.

Thanks Edd. Is there a certain version I should go for that you might know about? What is the latest version?

Just wondered whats the best software to use to build websites? I've heard about dreamweaver but is it the best to use?

dreamweaver is fine,

easiest way is to sketch out some ideas first then maybe use a template that comes with dreamweaver if possible.

have a go with it and as allready mentioned if you get stuck or need help im also available for help :)

frames. yuk  tables are your friend! ;)

Nahhh.. Go for CSS! :eyebrows: Tables are good for tabular data, but really bulk the code. Having said that they're a lot easier to get your head around. But if you're starting pretty much from scratch CSS would be a valuable thing to learn.

The latest version of Dreamweaver has got pretty good CSS support.

Any help needed, drop me an email or PM.

If your familiar with markup - use Notepad :)

Frames can be a PITA when it comes to getting ranked on search engines as well as creating barriers with assistive technologies. If your not fussed about search engines or users with assistive devices then its one option.

As mentioned, tables should only be used for tabular data, ideally you'd want to use HTML/XHTML markup with CSS to control the layout of the site. Tables bloat code as well as creating barriers for users of assistive devices.

Dreamweaver is probably the best WYSIWYG editor, and if your not familiar with HTML/XHTML markup or CSS then its probably the best package to use.
