Blitz SBC-ID III Clicking solenoid noise

Hey everyone

Has anyone else got this Boost Controller? I had mine fitted yesterday and the clicking noise from it is unbelievable :( I'm also not sure that the boost controller is working, as i still get 1.27 bar when i set it to "off" except minus the clicking.

Any ideas?

Cheers.....

Well, i had it fitted by a reputable company, but they hadn't fitted the Blitz SBC-ID before, and when i read through the manual, they had set it to auto with boost at 1.1 and a gain of 60(!!!) After reading the manual and adjusting the settings myself, i've now tried it on:

CH1 set 10 gain 5

CH2 set 20 gain 10

Not sure if it's making a difference as the roads have been pretty busy and i haven't been able to open her up yet. The clicking noise is still there. I found a few articles on other forums for supras and other vehicles and a few people have had similar clicking issues. I was wondering if it was normal or if the solenoid needs replacing.

Actually EBC's do make a loud clicking noise when they are working...the closer to the cabin it's fitted the worse it is...I'd relocate it.

Boost controllers can only raise boost. If you're seeing 1.27bar without it on A) you didn't need it B) you have a fully decatted exhaust and no restrictor ring leading to over boosting.

1) Move the solenoid pack so it's less audiable.

2) Search on here about restrictor rings and then get one fitted.

I still have my front cat though. Should i still look at a restrictor ring? I've read about putting in stronger springs (not sure where but i think on the wastegate) to keep the boost down. Any ideas on this?

I might try some sound deadening material first before moving the solenoid pack (i have some dynamat lying around somewhere).

Cheers

acualy just noticed you said it overboost even when you switcht he unit OFF, in that case A: r u sure the unit IS in "Off" possition. B: if yes to the above then its seems to be a hose not plumed in correctly, but then if thats the case it shouldnt being seing that much boost anyway?

still, call me if your not sure.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi guys

Here's an update: I've booked my car in this weekend to have this checked out, cos when my BC is set to manual and "set=1" "gain=1" I'm hitting 1.55 bar at half throttle... i'm too scared to drive fast :(

I leave the boost controller on to take advantage of the limiter function which i've set to 1.2bar and a reduction of 40%

I want the garage to take the boost controller out of the equation and plumb it all back to standard and then do a boost reading to see if it's the Boost controller or something else.

Any other ideas?

Cheers
