garetheves
My new front bumper is in the spray shop for painting but the guy is having a bit of trouble matching the paint. Im pretty sure the car had a full respray in Japan when the body kit was fitted but ive always assumed it was stock Toyota red as all the other cars ive compared it to have been pretty much the same shade of red. How is best to match the paint as it seems this might not be the case after all??
_Rob_
ive had paint matched before from a sample, taken from an inconspicuous place, ie: inside petrol cap. the paint was then mixed to match. that was a stock honda red.
supRo
So the car is with you? unbolt the petrol filler cover and give it to him to match up if the whole car is exactly the same shade

michael
3E5 and 3J6 too - what's the standard red on the Supra? 3E5 tends to be slightly deeper and doesn't turn pink as easily.

merckx
I've got a red car too. I tried numerous places before I got a good match. I hit lucky at the fifth place , the paint was more expensive but definately worth it.
Guru
I have 3L2 on mine and can't find anyone to match it. Gonna respray a different red soon though.....
Mike M
Mine was the same, found a good paint shop in Dundee where the guy took ages mixing the paint. He must have been out at the car 10 times with a paint sample. My trouble was the 3L2 was too bright and he had to keep adding violet to dull it down. garetheves
Fingers crossed, he is taking the sample i gave him (Fuel filler cap) to a paint shop and getting them to mix some there and then. Hes tried all the toyota paint chips and none of them match, so either its a slightly different shade of standard or a non Toyota colour.
