Is it safe to remove the Fan Shroud?

Removing the entire shroud isn't great as it ducts the air pushed by the fan through the rad instead of it just bouncing off and providing a nice breeze through the engine bay. You'd risk overheating at idle after a run.

Ok, thanks guys, any ideas on how to make the cabon bonnet fit with the shroud fitted?

 

You should just need to trim a little off the top edge of the shroud. Yeah not ideal but there was a pic someone posted showing what they had to do and it wasn't much.

Yeah thats the one... but it isn't a Seibon it's a different copy... (I bought it from Knight-Racer)

 

Just checked that Thread and sounds like lots of people have the same problem but the only solution seems to be to cut the shroud or replace the stock fan with electric ones...

The Seibon TSII replica bonnet can fit WITHOUT chopping up your fan shroud.

 

 

I like this bonnet (well, the shape, not sure about the structural integrity)

 

It should improve airflow through the rads without looking garish or letting too much water in (as long as you don't park it downhill in the rain!)

 

Quite flimsy but I've had it 160+ Leptons, no problems.

When I went BPU with an FMIC my engine was getting considerably hotter as you'd expect. The TSII bonnet worked really well to keep the temps down. Air is pushed straight out of the vents. There's a specific vent for the turbo area!

I've had mines through all weather conditions and parked/driven through thunderstorms, I park downhill and Jetwash the bonnet with engine on....no problems at all. I've had the bonnet for over year and done more than 15K miles on it

How do the bonnet pins help? did you manage to get it fitted without cutting the shroud then Suprastar?

 

I think the bonnet must be slightly twisted too as the drivers side sits higher than the passenger side (which is perfect)

 

Have a look at the pictures in my sig.

The pins push down the corners above the lights.
