External Wastegate Question

ok, so whats the point of having a higher wastegate spring,or to put it another way, if a boost controller can controll a 9psi spring to say 1.5 bar? why by an expensive boost controller when you can just get a cheap spring that will do the same thing. Is it only so you can make it adjustable from the boost controller from 0.6 (.6bar wastegate spring) to 1.2 bar?

I was running mine from wastegate (no boost controler) always boosted perfect everytime.. if your not wanting to alter the boost there is no need for boost controler...

my new setup is being run by the AEM with a high and low boost switch on the dash..

I have not heard of any problems with the xs wastegate.

Because the wastegate doesn't get to the level it's rated to and then suddenly open, it opens gradually. With a boost controller you can effectively hold the wastegate closed until just when you want which means you build boost faster. Makes it easier to map too if you can hold it at different boost levels while you're doing it.
