Can you circulate this around especially as Christmas is fast approaching. It has been confirmed by Royal Mail.

The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:-

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0306 6611911 (a premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scan originating from Belize .

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at:-

http://www.icstis.org.uk or your local trading standards office. This is a genuine scan and is under investigation by ICSTIS.

so keep an eye out guys

another dodgy scam to bleed us dry!!!

Quote from ICSTIS:

"It is not possible for a £15 charge to be made on connection. We also have a number of measures in place in our Code of Practice to ensure that consumers are protected from unexpectedly high charges. Calls and texts cost a maximum of £1.50 per minute."

The email is yet another hoax one going way back I'm afraid guys.

However, even the Beeb were caught out by it:

Yeah, a couple of us have already pointed out that the "You've already been billed for £15 as soon as you call" is wrong but I wouldn't say that Beeb's article was incorrect. It says "the cost of the six-minute premium rate call to arrange delivery of the item works out at almost £10" which is about right at £1.50 per min.
