RedM
In fact, so has everything else. I've just had my ears syringed. Bloody brilliant it is.
Class One
I was going to have that done a couple of years ago, but my Doctors' practice nurse managed to talk (shout!) me out of it, as once you start, you just can't stop.
jamesmark
It's a wierd feeling getting it done, were you really dizzy for about 5 mins afterwards?
RedM
Don't know about that. I've had my done only three times in 35 years. It realy is amazing how clear and loud everything is. Sadly, it appears that the Supra is very rattley and suffers tyre noise and wind noise!

Rickeh
Was it a big deal to get this done? Is this just when they stick a syringe in your ear and squirt water in there? I went to the doctor in South Africa when I was feeling a bit poorly and he did that for me, felt like I had a new hearing super power
Mike
Charlotte needs this done.
Gaz Walker
Yep I had a done it couple of years ago, I think I must need it doing every so often because I feel deaf now compared to before. Gaz.
garetheves
I need mine doing really but theres a girl at work who does "Candleing" so think ill have that instead. Basically they put a hollow candle in your ear and light the end. The vacuum created by using up all the Oxygen draws all the wax out of your ear and collects it inside the candle. She then cuts the candle open and you can see how much cr@p it got out. Can keep it as a nice momento as well.
Rickeh
Same, that's why i'm wondering if I can just go up to the GP's and ask to have this done.

Just phone up and ask them for an appointment with the Nurse to have it done. You don't need to see the doc. Gaz.

Rob
He's not wrong y'know General ear candling instructions are as follows: DO NOT use ear candles alone. Have someone help you. At the very least, they are essential to make sure you stay awake!
garetheves
He's not wrong y'know Think she only charges about 15 quid as well. As far as i know it lasts longer than syringing them also.

garetheves
So how would one find one of those closer to home? I take it you don't need a doctorate for that Gaz. Shes a physio by profession, and just did this on a day course as something extra. Your GP might know of one locally or alternatively try any local "alternative Therapist". If they dont do it themselves im sure they will know a collegue somewhere that does. Failing that, next time you are heading down towards my neck of the woods (Lancs) give me a shout ill put you in touch with her. EDIT: Or you could enter your post code in THIS SITE and it will give you someone local to you.

RedM
You do need a doctors appointment. They need to be sure that the deafness is caused by wax and not a foreign body. Also, the ear canal may be infected. Mine was and required a week of antibiotics followed by 10 days of warm olive oil drops (very nice). The actual event involved a kind of electric toothbrush shaped thing which was inserted into me ear. There was a rush of water (I'd pissed myself) and then the machine starts pulsing the water as the nurse moved it around in my ear. It was fucking heavenly. I could have sat there all day having that done. The difference is amazing. As I was leaving I was hearing a click with every step. I checked my shoes to see if I'd stood on a pin but they were clear. I eventually worked out it was the zip pull on my fleece. Never heard that before and even ended up driving back to work with the windows shut as the world was too loud!
