Homer
Just spent the last 4 hours trying to remove 3 nuts!! Its the 3 lower ones than hold the turbo's to the manifold (1 on front tubbie, 2 on rear), but they just will not move... There's not enough room to get a socket on them so have to use a spanner, but with that I can't get enough leverage. Tried heating them too but that didn't help. Any ideas?? Supra ST Myster
i had the exact same issue, i was flying at the removal of the old stuff and thinking well whats everyones problem with removing it, as had most of it out in 2hours, then came down to them 3 bloody nuts, and cue another 4 hours eventually found a way of getting them off,
Homer
What pentrating fluid are you using ? WD40 and a heck of a lot of it. Been spraying the bolts regularly since yesterday morning in preperation. Emin... do tell, how did you manage it in the end?
Tom
try to get something that you can put over the spanner for leaverage such as a long hollow bit of metal, this should work. make sure your using the closed part of the spanner on the nut,
Supra ST Myster
well with all the other bolts i just managed to undo them with a slight wack of a mallet but as you say cant hardly get any movement for those 3 so applied lots of wd40 and cut down a spanner then used a bar from a socket set with a socket on the end of it that fitted tightly over the spanner cut end and then just undid it, make sense?lol
Homer
Emin, thanks yes I know what you mean. Didn't cross my mind to try that. The spanner on spanner method didn't work due to lack of space. Will give that a try tomorrow (yet ANOTHER walk to the local Haflords, 2 miles away!!) after I've bought a spare 14mm spanner to kill. Even got as far as getting the mini grinder out, but even that wouldn't fit in the space available!
Pig
Coming soon: Boostlogic T67dbb Looks like not as soon as you would like with this problem though.
Rich
use a proper penetrating fluid,if I remember rightly these were a pain in the arse !
JohnA
WD40 and a heck of a lot of it. Been spraying the bolts regularly since yesterday morning in preperation.? WD stands for Water Dispersant. It is a substandard penetrating fluid. PlusGas is better, you can find it at motor factors.
LeeT
quite sure i used a long reach 14mm spanner for these. Don't remember struggling too much either
Homer
WD stands for Water Dispersant. It is a substandard penetrating fluid. PlusGas is better, you can find it at motor factors. I'll have a walk to a few tomorrow and see if its stocked. Last time I looked couldn't get plusgas anywhere around here. Lee, I think the key there is long reach... again no where local stocks long reach spanners. I'll give Emin's idea a try tomorrow (effectively makes a long reach spanner), if that doesnt solve it they're getting cut off
