silvershark44
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh well good luck then, your gunna need it I would go to adrian flux ready to part with a sh*t load of cash! Why dont you try something a little less powerful like an MR2 or something or even a impreza?? I know they arent a supra but i think your going to have a mega hard time getting insured. If you buy a Supra, they cost so much more to run than you first think. I spent £1000 servicing mine two months ago! But assuming you have thought all this through and your just wanting to save some money on insurance, I would not expect to pay under 2K under any circumstances. And you must get a UK CAR!!! There are a few knocking round cheap these days. Maybe you just need to wait till a good uk spec come up for sale???
Guest Spawn
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=88012 - I have an MR2. Got a quote on a UK spec for much less than my MR2.. I am wondering about imports as they are easier to find. Also as in the link above.. money is not a demanding issue.
silvershark44
Well in that case, look for a nice Uk spec tt. Dont be put off by auto's either as they are really good too. Go try a few Uk's and see what you like. Although a uk will be money upfront, it will hold its value much better when you come to sell it. Rayman
Just find a Uk spec spawn, find one with evidence of service records! Full toyota or similar SH would be great, these engines are good for 300K miles! Just go for the Auto, its great, two hands on the wheel at all times is underated! Its nothing like any other auto! So responsive its unbelievable!
Guest Spawn
I here what your all saying.. and I wont knock Auto til I try. But I would really love to keep manual Thanks for the help guys... looks like my next post is going to be 'who knows of a UK spec for sale?' hehe! So why are imports way more expensive to insure? Guest Spawn
If you know some for sale point me in the right direction.. Although I may be needing to wait just a little while I am kind of realising an Auto may be the only option. However I have lenty of time, January is when my insurance is due so you never know eh? Yep you may get lucky but make sure you have plenty funds as the Uk manual will go for good money for obvious reasons 10K at least!
blitz supra
@ 25 your paying 1300 on an NA??? I would say that is bad! Really? Still a group 19 though. so £1300 you'd say was bad, for a £25 yr old i would have said that was about right, But insurance is a funny old thing and never makes sense I paid £150.00 less to insure my NA when i changed from an FTO which was odd, but there again insurance companies class the FTO as group 20 My quotes were weird anyway £150 less than the FTO for a N/A £10 more to insure a TT Currently pay £297.00 fully comp protected for my NA with a Cat 2 Immobiliser fitted Although some insurance companies class the NA as a grp 20 as well, Always pays to shop around, Many want trackers and all sorts of rubbish Basically a Cat2 immobiliser is what most want so the car is simply dead, Alarms aren't always the best as usualy the damage is done by then anyway, and most people don't take notice of alarm sirens anyway, I've found over the years of Import and Sports car ownership that most companies just insist of a Thatham approved immobiliser .
