RedM
With both of us having colds, our evening was spent at the window on comfy chairs watching the huge firework display that the village commitee put on. As it was only about 100 metres away we had a grandstand view with hot food and wine for good measure. It certainly beats mixing it with the hoi polloi. dazla
Sound superb that. You even had the warmth as well.
Scoboblio
The only fireworks I saw were on the way home from work, but because my main road home passes mainly through fields etc saw some excellent displays Didn't see any properly big bonfires though, so didn't get burnt. zap
Should all be banned, had to put the dog on tranquilisers because of the horrendous noise (and people have the cheek to complain about my exhaust.), went out this morning and found rocket debris on and around the car, nice eh, thinking about going next door and sh---ing on their car bonnet see what they think of that. Pete
I went to one last night. [rant] Bastards wouldn't let us play with our sparklers (first time ever at the same place). Why? "because of the children". What about the children exactly? There were no kids near us, we don't throw the sticks away due to dogs walking there. They only sold us the fireworks in the shop because we're "responsible adults" then some even "more responsible" adult in a day glow jacket said we can't light them! It was ok to light a fuck off massive lump of wood that was so hot everyone was pushed back right into the tree line..so roasting kids is ok. They had some very loud bangs - so defening them is ok. ..then the rockets went really really high for about 20mins which really made my neck ache. Maybe they should be banned too!! [/rant] Getting very sick of this countries health and safety paranoia.
Ewen
Radar picked up the first path-finders around 18.00 hrs last night. We taped up the windows and I stood outside next to the Supra with a tennis racquet in true home guard stylee. Pond took a direct hit, but Supra did a 'St. Pauls' and survived whilst all around it was devastation. Intelligence reports warn us of another wave coming over tonight.
