No heat from heaters, need help! No dash lights!

My heaters have stopped throwing hot air out. All the blowers still work and had dash to bits to hear something engaging when change the temp witht the nob, but still no heat. Checked all the fuses and they are fine.

I have just fitted new head unit anf thought i might of loosened a wire but checked them all today.

Anyone got any ideas?

I also have a problem with my dash lights. They do not come on at all. The LED's come on and dim when i switch the lights on but none of the bulbs do. I cant see revs or how fast in am going anymore.

The clock comes on (and dims), but the ODO when the lights are switched on appears to switch off, you cant read it.

Again, i have checked all the fuses and they are all fine.

I will openly admit that these problems are most likely my own doing due to years of slpicing wires together for various add ons but want to sort out my previous mess now.

Does anyone have any ideas or will i have to get a pro to check it all out? I will have to put up with all the laughing at my lazy wiring i suppose :(

Sounds stupid, but your dimmer switch aint turned down is for your dash lights........

As for your rad, if its blowing and your engine temps are good, as far as I know it has to be the matrix, as I havent heard anyone before saying to check certain wires, so doubt it would be a wire issue.....

I have checked the dimmer switch and it is plugged in but has no effect.

My engine temps are fine and the blowers blow fine, it is just that they will only blow cold air. :(

If it is the matrix i think i will have to put up with it being cold. The Soop is not making me wan tto drive her right now. :(

As for the heater matrix there are two pipes running through the fire wall these are the in an out for the matrix see if u can disconnect them an run water through it dont use hose pipe it can make it worse. The matrix can block up from silt an rusty water so flushin it through will help but make sure u bleed the water system after so there are no air locks.

Hold fire, it may very well not be the heater matrix at all.

I had a smilar problem with mine when I was faffing about with the LEDs in the climate control, turned out there were a few dodgy connections in the unit when I hurredly put it back together. That resulted in no LEDs, no control of temperature, and ultimately no heat coming from the heaters.

Resoldered a couple of dodgy connections inside and everything now works fine, heaters included :)

Have you got any tips on how to flush it without buggering the Matrix up?

I have checked the pipes after a long run with my heaters on full and one pipe is really hot, where the other is cold. It appears blocked to me.

I'm not sure of the heater matrix, but if your climate control isn't switching properly then that would explain why no heat would be coming through and also why the one pipe remains cold.

With the LEDs etc. on your climate control not working, I'd say the fault lies there rather than your heater matrix. It's a hell of a lot easier to fix if it is :) but if it is, no amount of flushing will help!

It is all the dash lights that dont work. When you select things on the air con controls, the LED does come on. It is the 'illumination' for nightime operation that does not work, on the whole of the dash.

I have had the dash off and when i turn the temp up i can hear something engaging so prsume the controls are fine. :search:

No flickering at all when i have fiddled with the wires. I am pretty sure that the controls (unit with all bte buttons) are ok as i replaced it with another unit and checked all conections and contacts. It has not improved anything.

the no dash lights on my car was the dimmer switch,(bridge it out or get new one). And i doubt you heater matrix is blocked, unless you have had a radiator leak and put some of that sealer shit in there. Do a good wiggle test on all connectors and if you can resolder the pins in the climate control unit.

Right i had the same problem no heat only one pipe was hot what i did was disconnect both pipes an i no i said dont do it but i did i put a hose pipe in the end that was hot an but a little bit of water through not loads or ul blow the matrix with the force.

The reason u but it through the hot side is u have to back flush it or u will force the blockage tighter the colour will be red an brown which is the rust an dirt from the engine. Watch where the water goes cause the coils an plugs are near an u could cause ur self a misfire. As the water starts to flow it should after a while get faster u can turn up the preasure a bit to flush more then do from the other side an it should be all good

As u can tell im a mechanic so ur in good hands let me no how it goes an watch the pipes they could be fragile after i did this today my heaters work great
