Well Thorin, lets hope your house never catches fire, or you need emergency medical treatment as these people are just doing their jobs, they knew they would have to deal with total wankers that thrash their cars around and smash themselves to pieces, it takes the fire brigade to cut you out and the medics to put you back together. Many of these people learnt their trades in the armed forces.

Maybe you should have it tattooed on your forehead that you don't want their help.

And as the do gooder Michael decided to post a picture of that poor civilian hanging off the blades of a forklift in fear for his life. Just remember what the westerners went through before this guys countrymen beheaded them.

I served 14 years in the Military and my eldest son has just returned from his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq and i must say that it's nice to know we have the backing of the good old British public.

I hope our paths never cross

....in return for a wage / seeing the world / satisfying your need to kill people etc

If you were doing it out of the good of your heart then so be it but to demand respect for following your chosen career path is pushing it a bit.

I joined the RAF (yes another one for a trade.

I have the utmost respect for people who join the army... but it is YOUR CHOICE, you are not forced into the army, you know what to expect, you know it's highly likely you'll be shipped off to some foreign country to be shot at. It's your career choice, you accept the risks (and would hopefully have a bloody good life insurance policy).

Why should people contribute money to your family should you get killed risking your life voluntarily? Maybe the government should do more to support the families of those killed in action, but they don't.

Already answered by many

I didn't see the connection between a comment about warriors and a thread that is talking about people who join the army to earn money and then grumble that they might get shot.

thought this thread was about Poppies

Oh no,,, not another one :p

Me too

I'll only say one thing to that

Airforce rise above the rest!!!!

Hear Hear !!

Yeah but you fly fly byrilcreamboys got yours for wiping windscreens.

Anyway, isnt the RAF being re-named...

as....

Wait for it.....

Utterly Utterly Useless Crab Air.

Whatever?

Are you stupid? They were forced to join up due to the very real threat to our country. And I wholeheartedly support them. Which I've said time and time again.

i think your also missing the point. Wasn't conscription added after the numbers joining up for King & Country slowed down, so Conscripts had to join. Therefore it was career soldiers first????

I served 6 years in the RAF Police, and loved every minute of it, I didn't join for loads of money. or to see the world. or to be shot at. But I have sat with some of the older soldiers, they have a organisation called the Fellowship of the Services, it was started around WW1, when you listen to these guys re-tell stories of the war and show you pictures you learn they did what was needed of them. Personally I have no greater thanks.

Poppies are "bought" by donation. Last night I gave all the change in my pocket as I left my local club with my G/F it, and I will make sure that I donate to all I can.

the current serving forces are all part of this. when our soldiers go to different countries and are killed in wars etc, we should support them after all they are doing some thing we do not.

How many of us on this board gave to the charity set up by Geordie Steve for young Karl who died this year, or to help Dude's family, how many of us donate to Children in Need, helped the firemen or buy raffle tickets for local fund raising?

I am trying to get to the fact that most (there will be exceptions) like to help those that need it.

One to go away.

world War 2 was 1939-1945 you were supposed to be 18 to join up so at the latest you would have to have been born in 1927. We are now in 2006, so the youngest service people from WWII would now by 79 yr old, some of whom made the great sacrifice and right now would be thinking the same as Satnav's relative.

The point I was making (which was obviously lost on you as well) is that I and so many others from 1945 to now are willing to put our all, our live's and our families well being in harm's way to keep that right, that FREEDOM that you so enjoy.

Now you're just talking out of your arse.

Oh dear. Through out this thread I have made a special effort not to get personal or be rude to you. You don’t agree with me or many others here that have joined the services, but as this is a free country kept that way by the Armed Service that is your right.

You though seem to insist on being rude and when you are intellectually unable to create an argument or even formulate a coherent sentence to back up your infantile and selfish view you degenerate into complete pathetic posts where you show that you are a mong, from a long line of mong’s! I hope you don’t ever have kids because they will no doubt take after you and be a fu*king mong!

The only person who is talking out of their arse pal is you.

And I really hope you go to an Ace Cafe Jap night, or JAE because now you have annoyed me by your sheer rudeness you fu*k wit. So, lets see if you want to say that to my or any other service person’s face.

If you want to continue with the discussion then fine, if you want to degenerate into base rudeness, then may I suggest you fu*k off and grow up you fu*king chopper!

In the space of 2 pages you seem to have alienated a lot of people, who for your sake I hope you never meet, no actually I hope you do, and that you remind them of your view point and complete idiotic arguments just to see what they ‘say’ to you.

You are a c*nt.

As it happens i totally agree with the post by Carlos_Hathcock

My post never dropped to level you are now at (gutter) FYI my first post was at #21 so i'm not just jumping on the band wagon, my points are quite valid.

Its a sad state of affairs if you gripe about giving £1 once a year!!

So in summary people in the forces are unable to discuss something they don't agree with without making threats of physical harm?

Thanks for the clarification.

Quite the opposite actually.

Through out the thread I refrained from making abusive remarks, where as the chopper in question made a determined effort make as many as possible.

You, made a few interesting and intelligent wittism's, so have I threatened or been abusive to you?

He feked me off, mainly because he was unable to converse but had to revert to abuse.

I only said what I said after alot of provocation.

I am more than happy to discuss this or any other subject where we may differ in views for as long as you want to (yet more joy's of having a free country). But as with anyone, when the person you are talking to refuses to offer you the respect your giving them and then starts to be abusive, well then it's open season isn’t it?

Your posts were tongue in cheek, witty(ish - I liked the Status Quo vid, it came out just as I was joining the Army) and not abusive but instead trying to get a rise out of someone.

His were of a much lower intelligence level, and aimed at annoying people, and when it failed to do that he resorted to being abuse when his argument fell flat and were disproved.

I still stand by my last statement, and that is that Thorin is a c*nt

TBH WW2 what was it for ??? Looking how the world is going now would it have been any worse of if Hitler had won ? Not saying this is my opinion just food for thought.

But when it comes to donating I have to say I will always do so people who don't support those that have thought for are nation deserve our support. Lets face it far to often the government use them for there own gain and then spit them out at the end.

Further more don't just think of the major wars that are in the news. Think of all those on the armed forces that are working under cover and fighting for things we don't even know about.

Keep stopping myself from reading some of these replies as I know it will do nothing for my opinions of fellow members.

IMHO anyone who doesn't support our armed forces is a fool!

..., Sure disagree with war, but blame it on the government and politicians, NOT the soilders on the ground!

and sorry Ian,

If Hitler had won I'm sure the world would be a far more unpleasant place to live.

Not sure the numbers but if you think the German concentration camps were bad, the SS's had for bigger expectations for the rest of the world.

Carlos, I know you're usually a fair bloke and this has obviously hit a nerve. However....

I can't stand this 'wait till I see you at a meet' mentality..

For me, anyone who threatens violence at a meet or otherwise should receive an instant ban.

People come here to discuss things.

People come here to play devils advocate.

People come here to take the piss.

It's a forum, get over it...

Some people on here have views that I can't actually believe... but at the end of the day we can all take a breath and ignore or put an opposing view point.

Please don't start with this 'wait till you're at Ace Cafe/JAE' crap... or find another club.

Totally agree with the above, not into all these crap arguments anymore but threats of violence because someone don't agree with you is well out of order!

Well the 'threats of violence' were not for him not agreeing with my views or anyone else's views.

If you had read my post's I said in them repeatedly that he was more than entitled to his view's and I would fully suport his right to say them. (Freedom of speach, one of the many joy's of being in a free country).

The so called threats were because of his use of abuse and name calling, which IMHO were

a. Uncalled for

b. Unnecisary

c. Out of order

For that fact ONLY did I sugest he say them face to face to me or any other serving member of HM Services.

I also called him a c*nt and alluded to him being a parasite who lives in the country enjoying it's freedom's but unwilling to 'put a little back' once a year. A quid, not even 1/60th of a tank of fuel...

For further explination please refer to post #88.

If anyone whishes to continue this conversation I would be happy to do that.... converse.

If someone wants to get abusive and rude, then so be it. I shall always respond in kind, respect begets respect, attude the same...

Because.......

and I quote....

People come here to discuss things.

People come here to play devils advocate.

People come here to take the piss.

It's a forum, get over it...

Is all very true.

Yes you were talking out of your arse. This "war" in iraq is defending my freedom is it?

Do you want a fucking round of applause?

I stated I had issues with how the money from the poppy fund was spent, and have always stated I have the utmost respect for people in the armed forces.

Yet you show plainly that you are incapable of basic reading skills and instead resort to threats of violence. Well done.

Can you point out these posts of me abusing and name calling against other members?

And I mean before tossers like you came wading in without reading and comprehending what I have written and threatening me? Perhaps you are incapable, I realise I shouldn't pick on you for that. Bless.
