RedM
Putting this as tactfully as I can would I be right in thinking that Ultralite wheels pay 'tribute' to popular styles from other manufacturers? Does anyone have a pic of the ATEC wheels (rear)? I want to get an idea of the dish (if any) of them. They look a lot like the Volk/Rays that I'd buy if I were a rich man. Oh, and do the ATEC fit over UK brakes?
Seb
I've got 18" Atecs on my Aristo and I think they look great. Yes, I think your description of paying tribute to the styles of other manufactuers is about right. I don't have an up close pic of my rears, but I believe mine came in the Supra offset and there is a slight dish when compared with the fronts - it's definitely visible to the naked eye. The Atecs are extremely accommodating where brakes are concerned and UKs will easily fit.
Gaz6002
I like ultralite. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php?do=big&p=4223
Thorin
Me too! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=87339 Didn't think the ATEC's came in the right offset for the supra though... and looks like they only go up to a 9" rear. Nice wheel though.
Gaz Walker
They are similar but I wouldn't even say they were copies. Now Rota wheels on the other hand, they are blatant copies! Gaz.
Thorin
Yeah I know those Rota GTR Drift's are also cheap. I was considering those for a while

Nic
I've always wondered, are Ultralite wheels actually light in weight or is it just a clever marketing name?
Thorin
Certainly lighter than my old ones. About 9-10kgs? What do stock 17 inchers weigh?
Gaz Walker
What do stock 17 inchers weigh? From moreboost.org (Weight in pounds) 24.75 tt wheels (93-97) - front (w/o tires) 26.55 tt wheels (93-97) - rear (w/o tires) Gaz.
Pete
Interesting they don't say on their website what they weigh?
Thorin
so 11.2 and 12kgs for stock wheels, so yeah the Ultralites should be lighter (I didn't actually weigh them though)
RobSheffield
But are they ULTRAlight? 'Kind of a bit lighter than other wheels available from competitors' doesnt have the same ring

Kevin Huntley
The Ultralight 789 and the Atec Eraser are the exact same wheel. Ultralight is just a UK brand that covers a number of wheels mostly sourced from Taiwan. IMHO Some of the wheels in the brand are good like the 789 & battle and others are not so good. With wheels you normally get what you pay for. You can't compare these wheels in terms of quality to the Japanese brands but there again they are a lot less money. Thanks Kevin
Kevin Huntley
I've always wondered, are Ultralite wheels actually light in weight or is it just a clever marketing name? The Battle's and 789 are light for cast wheel's but no where near as light as a Japanese wheel made using forging technology. I think its just a clever piece of marketing. Its like when Rota say "Japanese" styled wheels! Thanks Kevin
