Daston
Hi guys Anyone had one of these? A guy has just offered me one as a Part ex on my SZ, now I am guessing that it should be a bit quicker than the supra I have heard the .60ft times are very good . Just wondered what your guys opinions are of them.

squiffy
dont they weigh about 1800kg!
razza
was looking into this as was flipping between buying the Supra and GTO. All the research I found was to stay away as the engines weren't that great and had to be rebuilt in a lot of cases. Not as much fun as the Supra. They have alot of kit/electric gadgets apparently that not only make them very heavy but are prone to go wrong. I'm sure someone on here had loads of Supras through the garage for minor repairs, with not as many GTOs but they all had engine rebuilds...(and not cheap either on the twin turbo) My mate's dad has one, he used to have a Supra and prefers the Supra. Go for a drive and make up your own mind. Looks wise I think they're really nice, but unless you have plenty of spare cash around I'd stay away. Question would be why part ex a Twin Turbo for an N/A? Tom
dont they weigh about 1800kg! I was speaking to the guy that owns evil empire (tuning for GTO's) and he told me 1800 was the dry weight, he says it's nearer to 2000kg! the electrics really suck mate, having seen/driven 5 different ones thay all have electronic niggles. Don't part ex mate, you will regret it.

Daston
ok so apart from the fact they blow up weigh 400 tons but look ok, would it be any quicker/faster than my sz?
Kip
I know of two, both have been bags of shite one was continually parked at the garage I used for the best part of two years and the other never really got going for very long - does that help? Needless to say the owners, although liking the looks of the car were very dissapointed with them, I hate to think how much money they spent on them. Daston
hehe fair enough not one of those then, thinking R33 GTS-T might be another alternative
Mike
I asked a bunch of questions about them here
Hobgoblin
My brother used to have a TT with 4 Wheel Steering, it was very quick, but when he drove my (sorry Carls, another story!) Supra, he said that the Supra turned in to corners sharper than the GTO. I think the TT 4WS is a lot of car for considerably less than n/a Supra money. Gazboy
What happened to the TRD?
Todd
Yup, if you thought the Supra was an over weight barge than the GTO really puts it in the shade. Can see what a bad car it is here http://videos.streetfire.net/video/efab470d-fa82-4a35-b5b0-982e018336bf.htm had one for 3 weeks now and loving it, all of the things said above aint far off the mark but much the same as buying a Supra, get a cheap one and it's bound to sting your wallet, get something decent and you'll have just as much fun. Guest Sexy Supra
Go for it. I sold my SZ and got a GTO TT two weeks ago. Early days yet but if you want some impartial advice go talk to the guys on the GTO forum and they will paint a completely different picture about owning one. Very biased on here so don't expect a glowing report for a GTO from a supra forum.
