squiffy
i have a 2nd decat and hks filter and i am running standard boost, but just after the car changes in to 4th (bout 120leptons) i get the big warning light and engine management light on and the fuel cuts. used to just be a bit of hesitation but now just cuts. It happened last night in 3rd at about 100 leptons. i cant see why its doing this:search: not sure when the car had its last service but is going in for one in 2 weeks. would a new fuel filter and plugs cure this? cheers
psymon
I had fuel cut several times with only a 2nd decat . Have you got a boost gauge ?. This happens at 1bar. I bought an FCD and it didn't happen again. Take it your Jspec ?
Steviekid
Do you have a boost gauge? I've heard of cars spiking over 1.0bar with just one cat removed and an aftermarket cat back system. Too slow!
squiffy
yes j-spec mate. i have a boost gauge and superdragger. i have never noticed any boost spikes. i didnt really think i should need a fcd at this stage??
psymon
Me neither , but I had 2 or spikes when it hit Fuel cut. It is possible, especially now the colder days are about us. Do what I did, or a FCD and a front decat at the same time lol

Jake
i have a 2nd decat and hks filter and i am running standard boostStandard boost even though it's half decatted? What max boost do you get? At what boost pressure is this fuel cut happening? used to just be a bit of hesitation but now just cuts.that sounds like maybe the 180kph speed limiter kicking in. would a new fuel filter and plugs cure this?Could be plugs. They can cause hesitation once the boost is raised
squiffy
well it seems to be 0.9bar max and it happens then but i do have a knackerd crumbling smic well i have had the speed quite a lot higher so it couldnt be the speed limiter could it??? Homer
I'm pretty sure sustained 0.9bar is enough to trigger it. Is it quite a violent complete loss/regain of power? If you're reaching those boost levels then its a good idea to do some of the other BPU mods such as plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter change, etc.

Jake
Thinking about it, knackered plugs and/or speed limiter don't make the red triangle warning light come on, so it's most likely fuel cut. You want to get some BPU suitable plugs in there though if you're running above stock boost
