Got the latest DIVX codecs but for some reason films just arent playing on my computer recently. I just get a green screen. Also happened with that 3d image of an engine the other day. Had to watch it at work.

Anyone has any ideas what it could be? Have tried with different players but no change.

Did you uninstall the old codecs ? You might have corrupted one when installing the new ones.

Thought that but thing is they have been installed for ages and then it happens suddenly. Have tried installing since thats how i know ive got the latest. Will uninstal now and try again.

slightly off topic but I've been trying to get a copy of the first episode of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.... every time it goes off to find the codec, fails and then I just get the sound track....

I've got all the new codecs I'm fairly sure.... :search:

Maybe try using the VLC player if you're not already, you can get it from http://www.videolan.org - you want the VLC client - it has the majority of codecs built in you see so negates the need for codec packs!

Tried VLC, still doesnt work

Try 3ivx http://www.3ivx.com it's the best codec I have ever used

Also tried 3ivx and it doesnt work

There's a program called GSpot that will tell you what CoDec you need to play any given video or audio clip and whether you have a suitable CoDec installed.

Google for GSpot + CoDec

You really want me to Google "Gspot", think of the hits ill get :D. Ah well ill give it a go. Managed to burn the DVDs onto a DVD and they work fine on my player so not a major prob now but its bugging me that i cant get that screen saver of the 3d engine as it happens with that also.
