michael Posted October 26, 2006 Share Posted October 26, 2006 Just a quick one - I presume a number of you IT types do on call, are you paid for this on an hourly basis or is it included as part of your salary? If paid hourly how much do you get? (PM me if you like) Our on call rate (for holding the phone, not for doing anything) has been £2.00 per hour for the last 11 years, I'm just curious to get an idea of what other companies pay. Now its £250 for being on first call and £100 for being on 2nd call. Being on 2nd call means just holding a pager for a week for £100. However, up until a month or two ago I got paid as follows: Disturbance - Paid EVERY time you get called out: £14 PLUS £35 per hour if during the week. £42 per hour if at the weekend. Wez Posted October 26, 2006 Share Posted October 26, 2006 140 per week primary 140 per week backup normal hourly rate times these multiplyers mon - sat = 1.5x sun & bank holiday = 1.66x 2100 - 0600 = extra 0.22x every call is minimum 1 hour and additional to that we get travel at 50p per mile if I have to go anywhere. So by the sound of it we don't do too badly, other than the fact that some newbie keenster was allowed to do on call and screwed it up so we don't always get one week per month now. I hate him. It is however a fixed amount per night then time and a half or double time when called out, depending on the day/hour. Minimum of 1 hour.
