Hi chaps need to degas the aircon to remove the engine, can anyone give me any tips?

Jim_supra said he cried like a little girl when he did his, due to living in a built up area I would like to avoid such a spectacle!

Any advice would be gratefully recieved, also can I seperate the gearbox from the engine (AUTO) whilst in the car, to make removal a bit easier???? :search:

Hey, i resent that remark:d it did shit me up when I unbolted the pipes from the pump and the air con gas shot out (very loudly) everywhere, was not expecting that at all, but it was a very manly shout:p :D

It's far easier to remove the engine and 'box together, just drop the gearbox support (make sure you support the box with a trolley jack or something), and disconnect the prop shaft.

Oh really? Was your dad there?

Anywho, the car is jacked up quite high with no bumper so I might me able to lower the whole assembly and slide it out as one....

Don't open the system and vent the gas into the atmosphere FFS!

There's enough shite being pumped into the atmosphere without needlessly adding to the problem.

Go to your local garage or who ever does air-con and get them to evacuate the system. If the system is open to atmosphere for more than 3 hours you should replace the Drier Unit (when reconnecting back up ) as I have been told the Dessicant in there will become saturated.

Should'nt cost more than a £10 to evacuate the system, the Air Drier is about £30.
