GavinL
Hi... probablya bit of a long shot, but....Does anyone know of a system available that can provide a warning, via a LED/Buzzer, when a specified EGT limit has been reached. I personally don't like putting gauges in my car and would like something discreet to warn me. Thanks.............

Branners
you could mount an EGT gauge in the glovebox and have it with an audiable warning, then you wouldnt need to see it but you could hear it. I dont know of any other systems that really give an audio warning without having a gauge. JB
Guest Martin F
The Greddy Warning gauges have a seperate wire that can be hooked up to an external buzzer or 100W lamp, whatever takes your fancy.
Adam W
Hooking it up to a 100W buzzer would be cool, in a shit-yer-pants, WTF kinda way. The whole street would know your EGT's!

Branners
We had a special on Blitz EGT gauges but Im not sure they have audio warnings, I think the Greddys do. I will get J to sort out a price for an egt with audio warning and let you know. We can even take credit cards on the shop now, buying bits couldnt be easier. Guest Martin F
The Greddy one is not built in. There is a seperate wire which you need to connect to a buzzer or similar. Pretty easy even if you need to use a relay as well.
Rich J
SPA Gauges have this facility, you can hook up and external system, i.e. light or buzzer, they are also duel guages (evailable in boost and EGT combination) so you could also have an over boost warning light/buzzer as well as the EGT. The gauge is only 52mm so easy to hide away.
GavinL
I don't know if anyone has any personal experience of SPA gauges but I have heard that their 52mm boost gauge is not very reliable/accurate which makes me question the combo one. Good idea though regards
Guest Ash
There used to be a 3-word phrase in motorcycle racing circles about SPA gauges. I cannot remember what the 3 words were but the first letter of each word was S, P & A respectively. I remember it was quite a put-down. As a quick quiz: in a similar vein to the above, any electronics engineers remember the phrase relating to the yankie NTSC television encoding?
