Gripweed
Ok, Dumb question time! I've just fitted an cat replacement pipe to my '98 J Spec to replace the second cat. Upon inspecting the peice I removed it looks to be more like a baffle than a catalyst i.e no honey combe stuff inside. Is this right or what. Jake
You mean it's not filled with honeycomb stuff but rather it's around the wall of the pipe? Yeah, that's how it's supposed to be. The other way would be too restrictive.
Scooter
i'm sure the spare one i had knocking around at one time was filled with honeycombe stuff, not near the joints, but down inside where the external casing is broader?

Nick_TC
Sounds like it's had the honeycomb knocked through, or it's missing due to age. Should be like a Crunchie inside.
