Kranz
Me & Mrs K14 earn about the same. I pay the bills, she pays for everything else, and if she runs out I dip into the little I have left & take her car to work & fill it with diesel for her etc. Good arrangement & there's no arguing over money. We know where it goes, do everything together and if one of us can't afford it the other pays. I buy her stuff & she buys me stuff. Its quite nice really cos its like being bought a present

Babe
I worked for love (so earned about £6K)... my ex worked for money (so earned about £300K). He said he earned enough for me not to have to contribute as what I earned in a year was a week's work for him and what I had wouldn't make a difference. However, if I went out and spent £50 on my kid he took great and endless pleasure in rubbing nose in the fact that he paid for everything. Went bloody mental when I bought the Supra hehe... Has since purchased himself a 'chickababe' and moved to the Philipines so I can do as I please with my dosh now!
DannyW
(so earned about £300K). Jesus! What did he do for a living?
Pabs
i suppose it depends what you call "a lot different" - I earn more than my girlfriend, about 25% more than she does - and that gaps growing all of the time. It'll get smaller in a few years when the missus has gone back to uni and completed the degree she wants to do. Suprisingly, she's the one who owns the flat we live in, and so she'll have a bigger deposit to use for our next, joint property. But hopefully by then the extra wages i have been getting have allowed me to build up a fair amount to help too

Digsy
Paying by % works, but it can turn into an excuse for the lower-paid person not to try to extend themselves, as the less they are on the less they will have to pay. I think the car thing is a bit out of order, though. Souds like shes forcing you into a bad situation financially, by building up a debt for 50% of running a car than now only she wants to keep. Maybe she should buy your half off you and take over 100% of the ownership and running costs?

Maybe she should buy your half off you and take over 100% of the ownership and running costs? I don't want to sell the car. I just thought it would help but as I'd still be indebt and we'd only end up having to buy another Supe then we may as well keep it. They are nice cars and to sell one for short term gain seems wrong and also like admitting that I'll never get a better paid job.

michael
Martin - have you thought about bunging your CV out to a load of agencies to see if they come up with anything? Perhaps them calling you might motivate you a bit more?
RedM
Dont it, Sir. After the initial flurry of jobs for way less than I'm earning now they've all gone silent. I pester them each twice a week in rotation but I'm now down by about £60 on the mobile. TBH, my opinion of agencies is that they promise a lot but deliver very little. No offence like. I know you used to work in that area.
