'Mint Condition'

Just checking that people think this means the same as I do.

A couple of items bought based on this descripton, neither really lived up to expectations - I'm not going to kick up a fuss or anything, just be more careful in future :)

At least I know that my "mint" is the same as everyone elses.

What where the items? Where they bought from someone on here?

michael ,

i actualy work in the 2nd hand trade :)

so many times have i been told by someone "yeh mate, its in mint condition" or "mint as " etc

only to discover the item is tarnished in some way or form,.

some people who use the term mint are often chavsters and there perception of mint is often way below mine .

One was from a trader on here, the other wasn't - no specifics as I'm not planning to take it any further, I was more interested to check the "mint" thing was a universal declaration of something being 100% perfect.

We need a standard list of descriptions or some kind of 100% system to describe items for sale.

for some reason i get suspicous when i read that. That word is probably the most abused word ever when it comes to ads. I rather see sentences like "like new" or "in very good condition"

What does this mean to you?

You guys have got me a bit worried now. The car that I want has been described to me as "almost mint"

However....I hope you guys can give me some reassurance by telling me that Paul Whiffin would not say that unless he meant it?? :search:

Never met him, but he sounds a decent chap over email..

It's the 'almost' but you gotta worry about.

It's like saying I'm almost a virgin...except for that small matter of all the sex.
