Fluttering noise

This has been audible for a year or so, but I notice it's getting increasingly loud. Whenever I have the engine on there's a very noticable fast fluttering sound which stops whenever the clutch is depressed. I seem to recall somebody mentioning it was the clutch bearing?? Does that make any sense? Is this an imminent sign my clutch is on its way out? (haven't experienced any slipping or anything) Do I need to get this sorted or can I live with it?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Okay, so does it need replacing asap, or if I can live with the noise am I okay? What will happen if it goes? Similar to losing the clutch? (am driving the family to the S. of France next month, so don't want anything like that happening) Expensive to replace? Worth replacing the clutch at the same time? (has done at least 35,000 miles)

Many thanks anyone who can help me out.

Total mechanical numpty me! :looney:

Cheers Nick. Ouch, sounds expensive, and judging by how loud it is, it ain't far from going.

So in the last few months that's 4 new tyres, new battery, big service with plat plugs and cambelt, new exhaust and now this. Oh and my horn's not working either (the one in the car thankfully!) :(

Wonder if I should trust Mr Toyota with this... Last time I was there they said I needed my fanbelt replacing too, although I don't know what that assertion was based upon.

Who said NAs were cheap to run?!
