SuperSupra
Feel free anyone to add comments but I feel the need to vent my frustration somewhere.... First point to make is that people keep talking about how awful our away form is this season, and if you look at the stats they don't lie - 5 games, 0 wins, 1 draw, 4 defeats, 1 goal scored, 9 conceded. BUT, people need to bare in mind that of these 5 games, 4 of them are arguably 4 of the 5 toughest games we will play all season - Chelsea, Everton, Bolton and Man Utd away within the first 10 games of the season is gonna be tough on anyone. Having said this I have been a Liverpool fan for almost 20 years and I have never felt this way before - we have spent so much money over the past 12-18 months and for what? We haven't looked like title contenders, or even challengers for a top 4 finish at any point this season, even the home games have only been 'ok'. Reina has made mistakes, that's a given, but he has got us out of many a sticky situation so no real beef there. The defence looks shoddy, very unlike a Liverpool side who have consistently had the best or one of the best defences for as long as I can remember. Hyypia seems to play one good game in 3 or 4, only Carragher seems to be playing with his normal 'heart on sleeve' attitude, but even he cannot make up for his team mates mistakes. It is in midfield where we seem to lack, well, anything at all. Gerrard seems light years short of the player who virtually single handedly won us the Champions League and also the FA cup last season, admitedly playing on the wide right role doesn't help but even so. Alonso has given the ball away more times this season than the whol of last. Sissoko seems to only be able to get booked and lose his temper. As for the wide players, the new guys Pennant and Gonzalez - they have not showed anything to warrant a place in a so called title challenging side. Sure flashes of genius, and the occasional burst of speed but not continuous quality to compare to the likes of Robben, Joe Cole, Giggs, Ronaldo et al. It's almost embarrassing, no in fact it IS embarrassing to watch us attempt to play any of the top sides at the moment, and last season was no different, when was the last time we went to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge or Highbury (haven't been to the Emirates yet) and outplayed the hosts and came away with 3 points? I have tried to justify our away form since the draw with Sheff Utd on the opening day but it's becoming increasingly difficult with time, watching the way the confidence is sapping out of all the players. Are they even bothered? I do sincerely hope so, because I'll bet I'm not the only Liverpool fan feeling these kind of thoughts right now. Would love to have a chat with someone like Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher off the record and ask them what the atmosphere in the dressing room is like now - quiet? Scared? Anxious? I'd say there is a distinct lack of balls right now, and they need to find some damn quickly before the situation gets worse. 9 games played this season and we're behind the likes of Portsmouth Blackburn and even Reading, what were the odds of that back in August???? Whinge over, feel a tad better now, but come on boys - show us you're better than the league position suggests as Alex Ferguson himself said. Rayman
funny you sure write this up as i was just thinking of doing a similar rant about the way we are playing at the moment, frustrates me so much! Just gonna read your above post now!
Muffleman
As a spurs fan, I feel your pain. Although not wanting to tempt fate, we're 1-0 up at halftime ! Liverpool really do have the making of a top team, don't know where it's going wrong for you guys. Hope it turns round for ya

I agree, Everton game we didnt even turn up, bolton game we where on top till that dodgy decision by the linesman leading to the 1st bolton goal! Having said this I have been a Liverpool fan for almost 20 years and I have never felt this way before - we have spent so much money over the past 12-18 months and for what? We haven't looked like title contenders, or even challengers for a top 4 finish at any point this season, even the home games have only been 'ok'. I think we have a much stronger squad then any of the previous 4-5 seasons for sure, they arnt playing so welll as a team tho, not liking this rotation crap, certain players need to be playing every week for them to link up properly, the like of luis garcia for example doesnt seem to be on the same wave length as the others. Reina has made mistakes, that's a given, but he has got us out of many a sticky situation so no real beef there Reina isnt quite as good as rafa beleives imo, we loaned out one of our best keepers in kirkland, even tho he is injury prone i believe he's good enough to be in our first team as he's showing now at wigan! Hyypia seems to play one good game in 3 or 4,Ure right hypia has only got one more season left in him, his pace has gone, thankfully we have acquired the talents of agger, left footed too! It is in midfield where we seem to lack, well, anything at all. Gerrard seems light years short of the player who virtually single handedly won us the Champions League and also the FA cup last season Gerrards in the completely wrong position, this is imo why we arnt performing, just like andy gray just said on ss1, he shud be 1st player on the team sheet in the centre midfield. Alonso has given the ball away more times this season than the whol of lastAlonso can only play in the same position as gerrard shud be in, rafa needs to decide one or the other. Also the pace of the premiership seems to affect him, he's a great player when he has time on the ball. Sissoko seems to only be able to get booked and lose his temper I think he's a good player sissoko, needs to improve his passing but believe we need this type of holding player but once again rafa has too many players in midfield that he wants to play. Agree our wingers need to be playing regularly imo, this rotation crap doesnt work, they need to rely on confidence but they cant build that up on the bench! Here's the team id play!:- Reina Warnock Agger Caragher Finan Riise Sissoko Gerrard Pennant Crouch Bellamy/Kuyt

SuperSupra
Depressing isn't it Rayman how on paper that team you have just listed is surely a top 2 or 3 side, if not better? Not 100% sure about Warnock being the best left back available mind. I like Riise there, with possibly even Aurelio on the left of midfield - of all the summer signings he has probably impressed me the joint most - him and Kuyt. Don't think I could leave Alonso out though, he does so much, and did last season, just needs to find his touch again this term, and fast!
SuperSupra
Oh and I definitely agree with what you say about Kirkland - imo with a couple of injury free seasons behind him he's every bit as good as Robinson.

Yeh i think warnock can do a job for us there, i dont think riise is the best defensively, he much more attack minded, there is multiple possibilities on the left for us, but i dont think any of them are natural left backs, left midfield but not back. We need a left sided version of finan! Kuyt is good but he's not getting the service is he, seems to get on the end of a lot of balls when he gets the service. Also i feel we play much better with crouch even tho he's not a natural goal threat he seems to work for us, how i dont know!

Yeh imo let jurzy go even tho he was a star in champions league and have kirkland back in at no.1 or 2, but have a feeling his loan at wigan is with view to permanent move in January! He'll also probably want to stay there as he's in starting place!
garetheves
Just got back from the game (Man Utd fan) and must say your players didnt look like they turned up today. They gave the ball away so much all game i cant help but think maybe they spent too long watching John O'Shea and Fletcher prior to the game. The midfield looked lost and we took advantage of that. Cracking atmosphere at the game and i nearly pissed myself at some of the chants towards Crouch.

He's quality, and English, and hopefully will have a season of not getting injured soon! If not for us, then for England, because he's pretty much no. 2 now James is kinda out of favour. SuperSupra
This season is over already for Liverpool. Unfortunately this may be the truth, at least our so called 'title challenge' is anyway. Now yet again we have a battle on our hands to get a champions league spot. garetheves
"What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fucking hell is that" Was what they sang when he first came on. SuperSupra
Oh, and another thing about football, although totally unrelated - WTF is happening to squad numbers nowadays???????? Gallas @ Arsenal is number 10 Woodgate @ 'Boro is number 8 Boulahrouz @ Chelsea is number 9 Whatever happened to the number 9 shirt being a centre forward? Seems now players are just given whatever number is available! And I thought it was weird Finnan having number 3 at right back!

kghelmet
your just to light weight and you have no one doing the basic hard work in midfield, thats why you can`t win away.you need someone to do the ugly stuff and kill the game away from home. SuperSupra
Yeh think its a case of whats left when they arrived at the club lol! Never used to be the case though did it? It's always been: 1 - GK 2 - RB 3 - LB 4/5/6 - CB or CM 7/8/10/11 - any MF or striker 9 - always been a CF for me! Hunt, Rush, Fowler, er.....Cisse

But that's what Sissoko is MEANT to be there for! Alonso too, and Gerrard when he needs to, but he's no good on the right, and with Sissoko just getting booked every game, he then has to watch his step. I honestly believe it all stems from the back, no confidence in the defence leads to massive drop in overall confidence. Few clean sheets and hopefully we'll kick start our season. Thats another reason why gerrard shud be in the centre because of the work he does tracking back and winning balls, out on the right he just cant influence it!
