Seb
I've seen a lot of Skyline boys with twin filters, but never a Soop. Doable? I can't seem to find any information on the twin kits anywhere. Cheers Seb

Suprash
I take it he's refering to twin filters as twin turbos ????? Most Supras seem to get stocks replaced with a single, are there any decent twin kits around, Im sure I remember someone saying that there isnt. Alex
The skyline has twin filters as it runs parallel turbo's and twin AFM's. The Supra doesn't need it. And it would only cost more.
Seb
Yeah Alex, that makes sense, cheers, forgot about the parallel bit on Skylines. Seb
Paul Laing
You could make a custom pipe for one, would suck in twice as much air, and if they were in a cold air box it might work better than one?

V
Similar amount of air, probably 1/3 less restrictive? Regards SV
Alex
Granted there will be more filter surface area, but would that not be negated by the turbulance created when the two air streams meet and isn't their REAL limit the turbo? The diameter of the two turbo's are about 35-40mm the stock intake has 80mm across. In cross sectional areas the 2x 40mm does not equate to the amount of air in an 80mm cross section. The stock tubing is plenty big enough for all up to hybrids...and the surface area of the stock filter is greater still. But to get back to the point - 1+1 will not = 2 in this case. Paul Laing
1 air filter, or 2 filters on the same pipe....has to suck in more air! You have 2 pulling in air instead of
Paul Laing
Also, the custom pipe with both filters on would be before the UK MAF sensor, more air more fuel. JSpecs don't have this of course so might not be much difference on them
Alex
Prove it then

V
The air filters arnt pulling in the air, they just restrict the the flow of air by filtering. By restricting the air there must be a pressure difference, which we dont want. 2 air filters would allow the same amount of air in with less pressure difference, therefore less stain/restriction on the turbos that are doing the pulling, which should lead to more air. As far as turbulence goes and how far the air has to travel i dont know how much of an effect this would have, some i'm sure. All a bit specultive i suppose. I think it probably would make a very slight diffence, but having a dump before you get in your car also helps your power to weight:D My 2p's worth Stephen V PS. didnt read it before i sent it so i'm sure there'll be something a miss:stupid:
Paul Laing
I personally wouldn't do it though, would cost loads!! 2 filters, custom pipe, nahh But i'm sure filters suck in air mate, thats why induction kits are best, and why you get a cold air pipe with the K&N filters that take cold air from the bumper
Digsy
The cylinders suck in the air. They suck it in through the induction system. They will suck the same volume no matter whether you have one or ten air filters. What matters is the mass of air they get, and this will depend partially on pressure losses in the intake system. Yes, there will be a pressure drop across the air filter but I thought most people accepted that even one aftermarket makes only a marginal difference, so two will make even a more marginal-er difference. SkyJawa
TBH - who cares if they work better or not - my Twin Apexi Powerflow induction on my GTR sounds the fooking nuts :D No need for an aftermarket BOV either, the stocko's are well loud with the induction

dangerous brain
Hey why not fit an electric fan to push the air through the filter and give the turbo's a bit a extra header pressure??? I'll get me coat
V
You can get electric fans/super chargers for N/A's- no idea for what size engine though. Regards SV
