RedM
I went in with a badly blocked ear and came out an official Fat Bastard! It is a new docs that I've not been to before and he noted that there wasn't much info on me so he took a few measurement. I'm 6'1"... so far so good. I weigh..... 18 fucking stone! Not so good. My waist is erm.... 4" larger than the trousers I buy. Which is odd because the pair I had on today will fall down if I don't hold them up and according to the Doc they should be so tight that I can't do them up. The jury is out on this one. My BMI is 39 and a bit. The worst part was the blood pressure test. I am very, VERY borderline high blood pressure. Bit of a bummer that. Upshot is I have to eat better and get more exercise and go back for a check-up in six months. So, I'm overweight, unhealthy and have sleep apnoea too. Neat. montezumola
How old are you mate if you don't mind me asking? Your BMI does sound rather high - but I'm sure with a dedicated action plan you'll feel the benefit soon enough
stupra
How much has the doc said you need to lose mate ?. I don't believe in ideal weights, there are alot of reasons why two people of the same height can be very differant in weight.
RedM
How old are you mate if you don't mind me asking? 35 although many people (and for many I actually mean none) say I don't looka day over 25. How much has the doc said you need to lose mate ?. He reckons I could shift three to five stone and think that 13-14 would be a good weight. SatSport
don`t worry about it, think of how much faster the Supra will travel less a few stone :o)
rob wild
Hey matey this sounds familiar, late July I went to the doctor over something minor etc and was told that I would dead by the time I’m 35! DOH I'm 6 Foot and was just over 16 stone but there is a history of heart problems in the family! Anyway decide that I should really do something about as I was really fit a few years ago with Kickboxing, Running, Gym etc. Any with a sensible diet cutting out a lot of drinking etc and got back into the gym I’m now down to 14.2. It’s been a hard slog but if you want to do it you can matey! I now what you mean though because my doctor was brutal! Good luck matey! RedM
I've been kind of lacking the motivation to do something about my weight and fitness. Tonight, my girlfriend said "Don't die on me".

rob wild
TBH i thought at the time the doctor was being at OTT as at one point after he call me 'porky' i said in a joking way: "if i wanted verbal abuse I’d go home and talk to the wife!" But TBH I think it was the walk up call I need! Plus my wife has been really supportive, but i am quite well insured
Steviekid
Some doctors dramatise it intentionally because they know that if they just happen to mention to someone that they're overweight they'll not bother to do sod all about it. I do the same to pet owners with fat as f**k dogs for the same reason.
Jake
18 stone! Blimey. When I was diagnosed with high cholesterol the Doc told me I really needed to lose weight. I was 15½ stone at the time (Same as you I'm about 6'1'') I was like "yeah I could maybe lose a few pounds but it's not like I'm obese" and he said "Well yeah, you are actually" So I went on a diet and got down to 13 stone, and my cholesterol level fell nicely. I've put it all back on now though

Steviekid
You can be skinny as hell and still have high cholesterol too, which is just as dangerous.
RedM
What I can't get over is that 10 years ago I was all thin and wire with defined muscle. I was doing lots of mountain biking and could run until I got bored. I've put on all this weight without even noticing.

Pete
Who ate all the pies? Who ate all the pies? You fat RedM! you fat RedM! I don't know what your diet is like, but it's amazing what a little change can make. I knocked out loads of ready meals and fatty foods as my heart kept doing odd things and although the docs said it was nothing to worry about, it wasn't right. I feel much better now and it's amazing how I don't want fatty foods. McDonalds/KFC etc just makes me feel sick thinking of it...I lost a bit of weight and my heart doesn't do the odd beating stuff. Good luck with it dude.
