MONKEYmark
Been around since the start and I have never seen anything so stupid on a MKIV. The sad thing is, he has done it and ruined a perfectly good car. Pea brained fuck wits like this are tarnishing the reputation of what could have been a classic by turning the car in to laughing stock, there are long time owners getting cars ready to sell as they don't want to be associated with the current plague of chav owners. Their departure will be a sad loss to the club, as they take with them considerable knowledge and expertise. Unfortunately these assets will soon be in very short supply in the club. We have already lost quite a few important experts who were regular contributors to technical forums. We are about to more see more stop frequenting the site. Has any one else noticed some of the rubbish replies posted in technical lately, the clueless leading the blind. its a shame about the die hard long term members.always good to see members who know what they talking about, lots of good helpfull members about.eyefi, you phil, terry, mig, matt harwood, ian c. miss dudes input too was fun times when dude posted.plus other members.dont let anyone drive u away phil. i like to go on supraforums as theres tons of info and big power cars to read about.the yorkshire members are good too.good to see them out and about at meets

Sorry mate, but more fool them then. There's no way I would sell my pride and joy just because I took exception to some of the numpties that exist and happen to purchase Supras. If you went into your favourite chinese restaurant and saw a chav eating a bowl of chips in there, would you stop going to the restaurant ? I sure wouldn't. Idiots are everywhere, and they buy all types of car and ruin all types of car, but it wont make me run away.
Terminator
I have no intention of running away, just probably wont post much. I'll still help with RLTC as that I believe is part of being a club member, trying to add value and help others. May be I should become a hobbiest member and charge for what I do. At £100 a time I could have bought two cars at today's prices;) I will not sell my car, I intend to keep it until it rots, which could be a long time. I think some for some people, it is the image that has changed. 5 years ago the car had a different reaction on the street, now for many it is seen as a young kids F+F mobile often totally OTT. I can understand it with the Saxo Nova brigade where owners want to make a very ordinary car look and perform very differently. The MKIV as standard in form even buy today's standards a very different looking and the TT a very high performing car. Is there any other Jap sports super car that has been abused so much? I know I am from the dark side so will never understand the desire to make the car slower by sticking silly stuff on it and turning the engine bay into a jewellers window. Members such as those mentioned and a few more leaving the club, is a considerable loss as they knew what they are talking about, some work in motor sports etc. However if other members feel happy to take incorrect technical advice from people who have just purchased a tool kit, so be it. Many of us know that even Toyota dealerships get it wrong with our cars, in some cases very wrong. It is my view that it was the experience and expertise of long term owners/developers that made the club what is was. sadly the expertise base it getting thin. If think the disquiet among the membership is much more serious than most realise.
Muffleman
Yeah I know where you're coming from mate, I'm similar - but I do also get a bit fed up with members leaving\threatening to leave just because of the more vocal, less desirable 'noobs' that periodically pop up. I see them turn up and just ignore them, they soon disappear. As for the most abused jap car ? Don't know mate, I've seen some turds that are not supras ! But good Supras still turn heads and wow the masses I've said it before and I'll say it again - this forum misses Dude !

If think the disquiet among the membership is much more serious than most realise. I am one of the members who has joined fairly recently and I joined because of the sense of belnging to a group that cherished something spectacular and that had a more adult outlook to the whole thing. I also joined because of people like yourself who is technically minded and gifted who could answer my questions, and if I asked something stupid be given an adult answer and not be given some wise ass put down, if it happened face to face I would give you a dressing down and find someone else to help me. On the other side of the coin I am not terriblely technically minded, I trained as an administrator not an engineer or mechanic, and if I can answer a question or know where to find the answer I will do so, its part of being the club. I have a laugh as many members on here do and enjoy it, I realise thats all it is, a laugh. If you think a member is a "chav" you dont have to speak to them, would you speak to them in real life? There are 2000 active members and I am sure that a vast majority are like me and joined the club for the same reason as I. On a final note I shall be keeping mine till it rots, because I love and cherish it. At the end of the day its a Supra

Sheefa
Really good points being made. Joined for the same reasons as Max.Headroom. There is still a wealth of technical knowledge on here and even those wisemen that have left have still left their mark of expertise on the FAQ etc forums. Without this site I wouldn't know where to start in getting my Supra serviced properly or where to buy replacement parts for reasobale prices or anything else. I've only been to one meet, and that ended a little sour with my car losing control, but that'll never put me off as that day was extremely worthwhile as I met some great guys and girls that day, Pete, Burna, Steve R, Voo etc and others. The love of the supra shouldn't diminish because a bunch of tossers decide to mod them in the most horrendous ways.

Ian C
I get just as frustrated as other long-termers. At times it feels rather I can only imagine how Greg at Turbofit must have felt while trying to persuade the idiot not to do this - although he then caved in and took the blood money Got the photo up on the workshop wall for posterity yet? This thread has actually boosted me a bit as everyone here has given this berk a complete (and well-deserved) shoeing over the abortion of his car. I hope it lunches its engine soon and gets sold on at a knock down price (can't get a cheap shit engine off ebay can you) to someone who can fix it (and sort the engine ) If only they sold taste and common sense on ebay. -Ian
RobSheffield
The number of folks asking about cheap parts is annoying at the moment. Its only a matter of time before we get a 'help my car has died' thread from them.

Yeah, I personally wouldn't skimp buying a fuel pump for £25 like I've just read... but as in a thread posted the other day we seem to be getting more and more people who buy a Supra and then end up selling it a couple of months later because, who knew, these cars are expensive to run! Gazboy
I'd say Civic's, MR2's, RX7's & 200SX's have it worse than Supras, but my god there have been some stevie wonder styling going on. Maybe the Supra is a victim of it's greatness- chavs find out that the Supe is better than a GTO or 300ZX so buy one and then make a hash of it. Maybe the perceived gutlessness of the NSX saved it from people wanting to dick around with them?

Gazboy
I suspect the price helps too but that doesn't always stop people. I would have wholeheartedly agreed, save for the fact that some people have spent more money buying and trashing a supra than the outright cost of an NSX. terribleturner
i like to go on supraforums as theres tons of info and big power cars to read about. I have to admit i think i spend more time on there than i do here lately But i'd never sell the car or stop coming on here because some one did a mod i didn't like. TBH im more concernd about the way my car runs and looks. It's good to see all types of mods, that way we can decided wether it's something for us or not. This one, which im sure Jamie loves, isn't to my taste and i wouldn't have it. Saying that i do have a picnic table on the arse end of mine which i know alot of people wouldn't want.
