kamikaze
Got my years renewal from Adrian Flux at £850....I nearly died! So went to A-plan and they did it for £695... Then went to Sky and they did it for £671... Went back to Mr Flux with that and they dropped it to £670!!!! So yes we do get conned every year by just doing the auto renewal and advise anybody who doesnt ring round to do so next time before letting them charge what they want on a renewal! Pete
That's what I hate about insurance. Sneaky no good bastards
IDO
Same happened with me.. flux wanted £900 for a renewal (it was £700 the year before!!) looked around a bit.. Sky wanted £580 Went back to flux with the sky quote and they dropped it to £550!!! I went back with flux as i had left it a bit late, but how can they justify nearly halfing the cost of the first quote!!!! Next time i'll look around alot more first.. probably will not go back with flux though if they are happy to quote me nearly double what i ended up paying!!!!.. trying it on is one thing but nearly double is taking the P***!!!! Rant over!!!
Getrag
Good work, will be looking forward to my renewal quote. Should be good with 4 years no claims and good age, location etc. Funnily enough, my run-around (Polo) is up for renewal. Admiral said do nothing and it will be renewed for about £230. Jumped on confused.com and found even cheaper, £150, wahay!
Angarak
Interesting stuff, in this mornings post I recieved my insurance renewal quote from Lancaster Insurance. Your existing insurer is no longer suitable for your insurance needs .... alternative renewal premium available for £933 Thats £100+ more than it was last year. I'll definitely be shopping around. kamikaze
I found Sky really helpfull and friendly-the guy was happy to chat about the car/cars etc... If they had been a bit less i would have gone with them but not worth the hassle sending alarm/imob certs away and proving NCB again for the difference of a pound! Safely Insured
I spend months trying to find good staff and train them to understand japanese/modifed cars. Convince underwriters that I can still make them a profit if they reduce their premiums, whilst still convering mods like for like and offering agreed values. Speak to clubs and convince them to recommend us to their members. Then people still take my rate back to their old brokers and hand them over the cash. I'm not blaming anyone for trying to save as much money as they can. Akk I'm saying is, if I am going to buy something and two people offer a similar price I would buy it from the one I felt happier talking to. I certainly wouldn't give my money to someone I felt had tried to rip me off moments early. Jae

(shall we say an extra 5% off my renewal? )

I just think its stupid that i get charged £200+ more for my car being an import and not a UK car.I just dont understand why, when at the end of the day they are the same car. Anyway roll on Jan when i have to renew my insurance.
stevie_b
All I'm saying is, if I am going to buy something and two people offer a similar price I would buy it from the one I felt happier talking to. I certainly wouldn't give my money to someone I felt had tried to rip me off moments early. I completely agree. If all the other guy is doing is matching the quote (or to within a few quid either way), then I'll deffo go with who I'm happiest with. I've just renewed with Sky. I phoned around for other quotes (including Lancaster), but felt much happier with the Sky people. The girl from Lancaster spent ages trying to convince me that I needed breakdown cover. "... but I've already got RAC cover...." " ...that's OK sir, you can cancel that at your next RAC renewal..." "... but I don't want to..." "... you'll be wasting your money blah blah...." "... but I have another car, will you cover that too?.." " .... er, no sir." Shut up then.
stevie_b
Oh, and Sky let you buy the car back from them if it's ever written off for economy reasons. This is something that's a distinct possibility especially for NAs. This is a big plus for me.
IDO
I Agree as well.. Next renewal i will be going with sky as i found them very helpful, As mentioned i had a bit of a mare with my last renewal and didn't have had a chance to sort it out properly Ie get relevent bits of info to switch insurers in time as i was away abroad.. Pete
Then people still take my rate back to their old brokers and hand them over the cash. I certainly wouldn't do that. If they can't offer a decent renewal, screw 'em I say. Especially for the sake of a quid. Unfortunately that's what happened at renewal time with you guys too. (Not your fault)
RobSheffield
Same for me im afraid, my renewal went up not down with Sky, when asked why i was told it was 'one of those things'
Ric
is it only me that had a bad experiance with sky then? The guy i called up there was sooo "i cannot be bothered" to take my call and even told me i would be better trying else were before i had even said my car details?! Pig
I would love to have gone with sky as its so frustrating talking to elephant. Problem is they want too much money as they understand what a single turbo means
Rich
if you ever have a serious claim with flux -they will stitch you up and play the waiting game.Offer piss poor money for your car, just pray you never write your car off!!
Guest not.fussed
You gotta watch those renewals they rely on you being lazy and just signing to save the bother. Biinned mine after they tried to up the price by £62 ended up going with bell after i searched on this moneysupermarket thing http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ (saw the ad on the tele) and it came up with bell as the cheapest so went with them.
