Guest Vangsoe
Hi guys, 1994 MKIV NA. Rev counter is acting up at around 3,000 rpm. Jerks forth and back like 1,000 rpm. Below 3,000 and above 4,000 there are no probs. Any ideas ? Tks mates Niels
Alex
Auto or Manual? Could it be the clutch or torque converter on their way's out? If it's neither of them you'll have to check the wiring, to see if it's faulty.
Jake
Check for a bad earth or faulty DSC/TSD
flukey-lukey
I have this problem sometimes, also when the speedo is jecking up and down it cuts the power steering?? After a few seconds goes back to normal... i have a HKS SLD, maybe it's this causing it to happen if its faulty?
JustGav
When you say rev counter is jumping... Do you mean the needle is jumping or is the engine revving oddly as well..

johnnyknox
I might get shot down here... I'm new to Supra's but intend to get one soon. I had a 1995 STI Impreze with this same problem. Turned out to just be the cable for the rev counter. If it gets bent in any way, it then kind of acts like a skipping rope inside its housing. As it rubs against it's housing it causes the needle to skip. You could either remove the cable, grease it up and pop it back in, or get a new cable. Like I say, may be wrong. JustGav
It isn't mechnical on a supra... Sounds to me like the delimiter or something is acting up...
Pixelfill
mine did this, right before the car died completely, and wouldn't start - I jumped out head under the bonnet, and the Negative lead had come off the battery post, so as Jake says check your earths.
