JustGav
I know the local basingstoke guys.. and they are good... however it is a franchise which means that quality varies between the branches..
DannyW
I had 6 dents removed by the company that had a little stand area at JAE this year and they did a spiffing job!

Matt _Aero top_
I take it that dent they won't be doing outside you home or workplace ?
JustGav
Some people of questionable parentage tried to break into his scooby and when they couldn't get past the security glass proceeded to use the concrete boulder to smash the body work... 8 direct hits on the glass without breaking and then 2 hits on the roof line... It will be interesting to see how well they can repair it.. they were 'hedgehogging' it when I saw it earlier.
JustGav
I take it that dent they won't be doing outside you home or workplace ? Most chipsaway people are mobile, however this bunch have got a unit and they do it all there.. husband and wife team. They did my 5 series for me a year back and it was absolutely spot on. That had trolley rash and general stone chips.
Matt _Aero top_
Whats the security glass ? i wouldn't mind some of that as my sup is only parked outside the house at night !
JustGav
He got a special film applied to the glass, sort of like a window tint, which holds the glass together and stops it flexing which in turn stops it breaking... but you can kick the glass out from inside the car. Ian Ian
Our Local Chips away guy is very good and ive been told the Dent masters guys are very good too ........The dent masters just get rid of the bumps and dont use paint .......I wouldnt say they was expensive neither about £40 for the first and £20 or so for each other dent ? dont quote me on the prices but i dont think im far away each car/job is different Cheers Ian
jevansio
I had Chipsaway do some scratches on mine & they made a right balls of it. Basically just slapped some touchup paint on with a brush. They do vary franchise to franchise though, but from now on I take great pride in giving them the biggest slagging I can. The guy in question is James Lester (Yarm based I believe) so if in the North East area stay well clear. Jay
JustGav
The basingstoke guy actually puts passion into his work, and won't let it leave the premises till it is right... Only uses dupont spray paints. Does do a little paintbrush stuff if required on a stone chip but then then mops it blend it all properly. However I have heard mixed reports as well in the past.... Ask around who else has had work done by your local guys first.

JustGav
Hmmm, it was done as a favour, but it was under £600, a fair bit under.. I didn't get pics of the bonnet damage either tho, but it was the bonnet, 4 dents in the panels and the roof line. Side by side comparison

Has anyone had anything to do with these chips away people or these dent masters ? and what was they like ? is it a expensive job ? Dentmasters... Very clever guys. Regarding Chips away... mmmmh, clever guys no doubt about it Do good job if you plan to keep your car short term, They use water based paint and laquer Any job that is done outside in all weathers is suspect using heaters and hairdryers. I Know loads of have people who have used them and when i was in the Trade we used them too, and yes it looks great Just wait a few months and the you'll see what I mean

They are franchises So like most things you get good and bad, You really need to speak to someone who has used that specific franchise It is a short term repair though

blitz supra
Used chipsaway and I was VERY impressed!! You got a good franchise then, Its like bodyshops, some are blinding and others... shocking Dentmasters etc are really clever, all done with levers and in some cases heat guns ... clever stuff
JustGav
They are franchises So like most things you get good and bad, You really need to speak to someone who has used that specific franchise It is a short term repair though I think that is what I've done here, if you read previous posts, I've quite clearly stated that this the basingstoke franchise. I've used them for my BMW as well as my supra. I posted up pictures of my mates repair. See post #8 and #13 Let people be the judge, and in 6 months time, I'll take another picture. The paint used is Dupont Refinish paint, and it is mixed on requirements at this PARTICULAR place.

Babe
I've had them done by a couple of different franchises, and they've all been excellent. Costs about £50. Get any summer chips done before the winter so they don't rust, then get the winter chips done in the spring so it looks good for the summer!
