AndyG
Any ideas.. Same bit of road (tested for consistency, varies on other roads), pretty 'new', very even, slight rise, then long long straight at the following leptons: 90 + in strong wind 105 + in medium to slight wind 110 + in no wind The red warning triangle light in the centre of the driver's dash flickers on and off (mostly staying on, but flickering very fast). Don't think any other lights, in fact I'm positive that no other lights in direct or peripheral vision come on. This doesn't need to be hard acceleration either, can be gradual trundle up in 5th gear, and as soon as those speeds are hit on comes the light. Reduce it by a few leptons and it's off, increase and it's back on. Supra, N/A, no engine mods, only body mods are skirts and spats, 18inch alloys, and rear visor thingy. I'm suspecting perhaps the boot catch being a bit iffy and getting lift at those speeds? Anyone else had something similar?
dude
Check your brake fluid dude !!!!:flame Dev Dude:flame Dev
Nic
Do you or did you have an active front spoiler fitted? It could be the cause of the speed related warning light.
AndyG
Brake fluid? OK, will check that today. Non-Active Front spoiler fitted as in bolted on as a front lip. Cheers
AndyG
Just checked fluids - definitely not brake fluid! Brake fluid just below max in reservoir, same for oil, etc. Any more ideas?
Red
You'd hope that you'd be getting some downforce from the rear wing, not uplift... or am I being stupid?? I would say it has something to do with vibration as it is obviously not RPM related. maybe the bonnet trying to lift???
AndyG
Yeah I'd hope to get downforce! I recall reading somewhere that the standard rear supra wing is only good for downforce to 110. Dunno if this is accurate or not.
dannyspeed
the same thing happened to me, warning light coming on at high speeds. check your bonnet is down right. open it and slam it down shut and see if that sorts it. it done it for me. AndyG
funnily enough I've just been out for a run and it didn't happen. Possibly 'cause I checked the fluids etc under the bonnet just before I went out! lol
dude
Top up the brake fluid if it happens again dude thats the normal cause !!! Dude:flame Dev
Timwildman
Originally posted by dude Top up the brake fluid if it happens again dude thats the normal cause !!! Dude:flame Dev I had the same problem, if you look at the fluid, just under MAX is only just over MIN, there is not a lot of room for spare fluid. Supra_Al
.....Andy G, that's my old Sup!! I've had that happen to me.It turned out to be the alarm pin on the slam panel, give it a good clean and all will be well!! Al.

Exact same thing happened to me - mechanic hadn't fully closed bonnet, didn't warn me until I hit 100!
Steve W2
I get the same at about 115-120 mph, haven't sorted out ehy yet but its not the brake fluid.

Having had a good look at the profile of the rear wing, I would be surprised if it made much odds at all. Maybe a little but nothing significant. Here's an easy way to check. Next time it rains rub a little food colour across the front of the wing. Go out for a spanking, and then check the flow vis. If it's all nicely streaked backwards then your producing downforce. If it's just dripped off the middle it aint doing diddly squat. Also, if it's producing lift at 80, it will produce more lift at 110, and even more at 140. Thing is though, if it's not particularly efficient, then the drag increase will be v. large. Remember drag squares with speed. I doubt very much if it makes the 3:1 lift/drag ratio we aim for in F1. Sorry to hi-jack the thread. I don't know what's causing the warning light. Regards
AndyG
Whoot - cheers Al. Sorted it. No light now
