I use Beamish to transport cars from Newcastle docks to me, near Edinburgh. Last time it was £80 per car. Saves the hassle of drivin em about with the contradictory is it legal or not issues.

As I understand it you are allowed according to the import rules to drive the car with no tax or MOT to a place of preparation for SVA / MOT compliance prior to registration. But then it goes on to contradict itself saying as long as the vehicle conforms to a particular road transport act which itself states the car should display proper plates, be taxed and MOT'd. I also checked with local police if they would likely stop me if they saw me driving an import without tax disc or plates, and gave them all ther relevant DVLA / VOSA info on this and they said they wouldn't hesitate to pull me and issue me with a producer.

So to avoid any hassle and not to put my license at risk, I've had all the cars I've imported transported to me.

Thunder is that just a general day to day everyman price or is that a price that you have negotiated due to regularly transporting cars? If its an everyman price then £80 is very reasonable I mean how much would it cost you to drive to Liverpool from Newcastle and back because obviously whatever car you went across there in would have to come back? Also will they deal with cars that have no wheels on as I will need to get a car transported to mine and I think the wheels are sold allready.

Normal everyday price I think, I've had 3 cars transported in total. The 1st one was also with Beamish and I let my clearing agent arrange it, that time it was £130 image. Curious as to whether that could be cheaper I contacted Beamish directly the 2nd time and sure enough it was at £80.

Don't know if they'll deal with cars with no wheels, each time my cars have been driven on and off the transporter. Can you not put a temporary set of wheels on the car to make it easier?
