buy a uk lexus gs300 sport for around 5k and put a na-t turbo on it? uk being service history, cheaper insurance etc

or buy a TT aristo with scetchy history and dearer insurance?

but being twin and prob quicker

thay would both work out about the same to buy/convert.

ooops sorry ime also talking the mk2's

Depends what you want really, I went down the Aristo route, and you lose things like factory satnav as the Jap stuff doesn't work over here, but you gain other things like the 4 wheel steering which is unique to the Aristo V300, at least on the MK2's anyway.

After hearing some of the horror stories of Lexus services anyway over on LOC I wouldn't really be that bothered.

If you're serious about an Aristo then may be worth speaking ot the guys at MKIVStore as I read they will go and check out Supras for you before you buy, at a cost of course, but probably worth it to get the thumbs up for an Aristo TT :)

Well i bought a gs300 aristo tt for £3000 which i thought was fine but it has now cost me a few grand as it needed an entire engine rebuild, remember the gs300 sport has the n/a engine in it so going single turbo would not be too easy and you would need a different gear box, uk gs300 never had turbo engine. The up shot of this is get an aristo tt, but beware of engine, Robert has his converted to single turbo and his engine blew and he needed a new one, my rebuild is costing more than £4000, we think because of how the car looks people forget it is a sports car and are less inclined to look after the engine as it looks like a standard 4 door so in they get and thrape it, whereas with the supra they may be better looked after with warm up time and cool down etc, engine is the same as supra's though, stock tt aristo is quick.By the way tt aristo is same to insure as n/a supra as when i changed from my n/a supe sky did a straight swap

good luck

Matt

the thing that makes me really want a aristo is the comfort and the ultimate street sleeper image! oh and this months Jturner mag with a 205mph aristo with single turbo :D

My mate was on about that - it's one of the cars in the USA isn't it?

Sounded like a lot of work when he was reading the modlist over the phone!

It's why I like my Aristo, everyone assumes it's a boggo standard GS300, takes them by surprise every time!

As for insurance I'm paying 880 with Adrian Flux and TTE wheels, custom Nurspec style slashed exhaust and bleed valve - no idea what boost she's running at but hopefully installing the boost guage tomorrow so will be able to finally find out :)

No he has a Mk2.(Aido)

I have a Mk1, Manual 6 Speed Aristo TT, lovely car to drive. Went from a NA Supra to it, it is a mint car and so much fun.

Pic if required.

LOL dude I see as you are using that picture still you have succumbed to keeping the ride height on the car sensible enough to actually drive it :D The aristo is indeed a fantastic car and if you look at cars like toms and michels you will see that instead of stagnating within a car fraternity that has all the same old kit there is a whole new world of styling to be ventured into. Couple that with the fact that the car has the same tuning potential single turbo wise as a supra and you have yourself an M5 eating car that looks better and actually has more room inside it.

I love mine though seized brakes have pissed me off and recent stories of engine rebuilds have got me worried...

If it has a slight rattle on start up which goes when pressure is up then worry it is a bad sign, i.e big ends have gone, mine only had symptoms of slight oil leak and coolant leak and on further examination revealed entire carbonisation of engine, appears to be more common on aristo than supra:search:
