michael
I once filled my black bin with PCs - they took that Anyway: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/6058952.stm
aido
I don't actually know what all the other bins I've got are for - black bin, green bin, blue box, yellow box, blue bag, red box, it's all confusing. Everything goes into my black bin, except for pizza boxes, and they all go in my green bin. Not sure if that's right but I want to see the look on their face when they empty a green bin full of pizza boxes, I keep inviting people round for pizza so I can complete my mission, in fact a few more should be here soon The worst thing I put in muy black bin was two traffic lights - I don't know where they came form, but they ended up in my front room and a week later in the garden! michael
So how often do people get their recycling bins emptied? Ours are only done once a month.
Supragal
ours goes every 2 weeks. so, week 1 is green bin (general waste) week 2 is black bin (recycling) week 3 is green bin again and so on.
Charlotte
It's all wrong wrong wrong I tell thee. Next we'll be asked to empty them ourselves! Disgruntled, Tunbridge Wells.

It's the same in Chesterfield. Just a bitch when you go out at nighttime to put it out and you can't tell which bins the neighbours have all put out as they all look the same under the orange lights - d'oh! Mike
I would just remove all trace of my address or ID, and dump it on the local council's front door at night in a de-plated car. Classic Trev ...although Basset spell it "Liquorice" (and) 'Classic' Pete.. :d Yep, I concur... they do a job no one else would want, but what a bunch of chunts.... Alan999
Bin men take the piss! i put the bin out last week and it only had 2bags in and they didnt empty it. So this week i put it out with again and this time it was near full and they didnt empty it again. Now this week im off when they are due to come so im gonna wait and if they dont empty it this week im gonna go mad at them prob end up hitting one of them to. Oh,did anyone else read in the paper about the MRSA problem because the bins are only being emptied every 2weeks?? There are talks going on at the moment apparently so they will prob end up doing it again once a week.
SupraAyf
It's all wrong wrong wrong I tell thee. Next we'll be asked to empty them ourselves! Disgruntled, Tunbridge Wells. It's funny you say that Charlotte as Hampshire have been thinking about a 'pay-as-you-take' system which means the greater the rubbish collection from your house, the more you will have to pay. NOT joking either but it could be a few years off though!
Ark
Hampshire are crap at recycling - they spent a shit-load of our money changing all our perfectly good green bins for bigger ones. Then they stuck a big label on the lid saying exactly what you can and can't put in there...most things with a recycling logo they won't take. WTF?!?!? Only specific stuff, then they wonder why no one in Hampshire can be bothered. DUH!!!!
Tricky-Ricky
I,m not even going to get started on our bin men! i could write a book;) suffice to say i once asked one of their senior management if they employed men or a bunch of kids, he replied the later:rolleyes: Anyway our local council are thinking of making us pay separately for our waste! and put a limit on how much!!! so i wonder how much its going to cost them to remove the 100% increase in fly tipping:rolleyes:
MONKEYmark
i used to be a bin man about 14 years ago lol.all changed now with differnt bins for different wastes.he jake you tight git bet you never left them a tip at xmas lol ps ring local council yard and complain and they will send someone out to empty it. markymark
We don't get bins in my area, we have to buy our own bags. If it is garden waste you have to buy the councils own green bags which cost over £6 for three At least our rubbish is collected ever week though
Scoboblio
When we first moved into our place it was so full of boxes that we didn't have anywhere to put the recycling, so we bagged it up (in the proper bags) and put it in the green bin to store it out of the rain and away from the front doorstep (no driveway or front garden for us). When they came to pick it up, rather than simply A: opening green bin B: removing bags, they SEALED the bin up with a sticky note telling us that the green bin is for garden waste only leaving the perfectly sorted recycling still inside. Cnuts!
Rob
When we first moved in we didn't have wheelie bins, the binmen used to leave a wodge of black bags but they would take anything that was left at the front of the drive, carboard boxes, rolls of old carpet etc, it was a great (traditional) service. Then we got black and green bins and it all changed. Now the handles have to be facing out, it has to be right at the front of the drive and they don't take the extra bags that every single person leaves because 1 bin every fortnight is not enough for a modern household. It's still the same guys doing the work, but I guess The Management has stepped in and stopped a previously excellant service.
Kranz
If they start charging for rubbish by the kilo I'm going to get the drill out and radically lighten the wheelie bin... Should save a few quid

Should save a few quid LOL like i said about our local council wanting to charge by weight, i think it would be an insane thing to implement, people will just nip out in the dead of night and dump their black bags on the side road, it would be like the bin man strikes all over again:rolleyes:

JohnA
...I would just remove all trace of my address or ID, .... You should be doing this anyway. I burn anything with name or address No big deal, all this paper goes in bin that ends up in the garden incinerator once a fortnight. Job done. Simon
When I was a lad we used to .... seriously though, no bins, just black bags up our way and you have to take it 200 yards to where they collect them from. At the moment though you can bin anything. The nearest recyling point (glass paper clothes ) is about 1 1/2 miles and the town recycling centre is 4 miles. No big deal just make it all small enough to fit in the bags and each bag light enough to pick up.
