Jake
That's not something to be proud of Jake. The kind of artists I listen to aren't given lucrative record contracts etc and rely on the small numbers of sales they have to live on. I'm happy to buy the CDs in order to keep them producing music. A tenner for hours and hours of entertainment from a music CD is value for money. Compare it to a car magazine which is £4 and lasts an hour. (I expect you'll tell me you don't buy those either, or you read your neighbours cast offs or something) I look at it this way, I'm not into music enough to go out and buy a music CD by anyone. If I couldn't get it for £cheap I would go without. Therefore the artist isn't losing money because I wouldn't have bought it anyway. Victimless crime in my book. With movies I'll happily go to the cinema and pay to see something if it looks good but I don't buy DVDs because they're way over-priced. Until they sort out the rip-off pricing of recent release DVDs I'll carry on pirating them. I've never been into buying car mags. They all seem like soft porn mags nowadays anyway. I did get the first JTuner but only 'cos my car was in it.
RedM
I'm like Pete. The bands I listen to can often be found selling their own cd's at gigs in order to buy food etc whilst on tour. I'd feel really bad copying one of their cd's especially as they also charge only £5-7 per disc. I think I own about 6 copied cd's and one copied DVD. Got a shitload of photocopied car mags though. Jake
Yeah well fair enough then. I wouldn't rip off some struggling artist who's still trying to 'make it big'. Somebody who's already a millionaire will have to struggle on without my £10 though

Somebody who's already a millionaire will have to struggle on without my £10 though Jake, Don't forget that there are some bands who aren't about making it big. 20 years on and bands like Fugazi who sell several hundred thousand copies of each album still only charge $7 direct and no more than that for a live show. I wouldn't suggest that all bands are about trying to make it big. That would be too Crass.

MONKEYmark
divx is a great thing 6 films on 1 dvd or 53 albums.also aint you allowed to download films and keep for so long before you have to buy the original. downloading movies as a pay per file wont be far off. Ive got way to many and have watched them all. Oh apart from 3 of the 9 i bought on friday. Even worse now the HD DVDs are starting to appear.
