A car is only as fast as the drive, end of.

Fair point- but I would say, same driver (capable) and get him to drive both the M3 and the supra, and it will be a bpu supra that wins a 100% of the time.

I've driven the M3 and its a superb machine, but a bloody heavy one, and I would expect that to show up especially on track.

I'm not going to argue anymore - it just proves my point that members nowadays are not willing to embrace new technology and ideas.

I'm not knocking the Supra - you're obviously proud as punch with your car and it's performance. And why shouldn't you be ? The Supra is an excellent car. But it's an outdated one.

Care to explain, what exactly is outdated that causes lesser modern cars to either keep up or better the supra.

Yeah. For start - The turbo's are out of date on the Supra. Porsche successfully developed the variable vein geometry on their turbos - to increase responsive-ness. It spools up alot faster. Less lag time

That kind of stuff - that's what I mean by outdated.

BMW = http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/bmw_m3_convertible_2006/18283/style_specs.html?p=all

Supra = http://www.mkiv.com/faq/faqtt.html#other13

Techincal details are readily available if you look. I can only assume you guys have never driven an M3 before. You should really as i bet you'd both be surprised, well saying that, from a bpu or apu supra to an M3 maybe not, but stock to M3 yes.

Agreed James, M3's are awesome cars and only get looked down on because most M series drivers are Dick-heads!

stop kissing my arse....:haha:

:kissass:

One thing I will say, and I like the M3 a lot, is that they sound absolutely awful when 'giving it some' - the engine has an odd metallic growl that ruins the moment :)

At the Mailbox carpark in brum yesterday I heard a new Aston and a Ferrari giving it some and they sounded the same. All modern cars seem to have this odd metal sound like you say nowdays. There were two Lambo Merculugo (spelling?), but they were just parked.

This carpark is always choc full of fantastic cars. It's the only place I'll leave mine for security. There's a good valetor in there too.

I have a friend with the new m6 ;) but he's not single :( i have a single friend with a 01 lambo diablo vt se and he also has a ferrari 355 and a evo fq 340 :) any good for your friend lara, stunning set of ladys in pic there by the way lara :) :cool: and you have great taste in the supra :)

I have driven the e36 and e46 m3 and have to say they are excellent very close in handling stakes in my opinion supra v m3 wise, but bpu supra would rape both in both twisty and straight line an m3, have been there done that many a time :D you speak so much truth there t tuner :thumbs:

I think if you gave the stig a stock m3 and a bpu supra which you were implyingthis would defiantly be the case and it would be down to the power and torque of the supra, handling imo is close :cool: stock for stock very close.

As far as a manufacturers name goes, for me Mercedes, BMW and Ferrari give me the impression of snobbery, arrogance and pomposity. I don't like the name, therefore, I don't like the cars and wouldn't own one.

However, I do appreciate the engineering.

M3, SLR and Enzo are awesome machines.

btw: what happened to the lezzers

On the other hand Toyota gives the impression of "family car" whilst "Supra" when spoken seems to give the impression of "Subaru". :mad:

One of our customers has one and likes to blat it into the car park. Nice.

It was interesting hearing the Aston and Ferrari in an enclosed environment with all the echos etc. I LOVE listening to mine in the multi story. :D

The Ferrari was being over revved up after starting from cold by a spotty young oik working at the valeting place! :shock: He basically just turned it around - running over his spray and cloths as he did so. Prat.

He turned it off as I loudly said to my friends "that's why I won't take my car there to be valeted"
