RedM
It's always best to rest the ECU. Nowadays I even do it after changing my underwear.

Pig
you just dissconnect the bat for 2 mins or take out the bottom 3 fuses from the engine bay box
Pete
you just dissconnect the bat for 2 mins or take out the bottom 3 fuses from the engine bay box ..and all your radio settings. Find the correct fuses and unplug, it's much easier.
Jake
Remove the EFI #1 fuse for about 30 secs.
Pete
Remove the EFI #1 fuse for about 30 secs. I wasn't going to spoon feed...but then upon a search of the FAQ section, I didn't find either ECU or Fuse in any of the titles.

cookci
reset the ecu but havent notice a massive difference with the decats... maybe the ECU needs time to adjust? the electric fan made the biggest difference so far
chilli
yes def reset after a de-cat. Mine didn't run right until I did and then wow what a difference! it took a few runs after the reset before it was really running well. As mentioned, it's worth reseting after any changes to the engine operating conditions, so the ecu and relearn new settings from a fresh start

Dont bother with a cold air feed either, Toyota are clever chaps and the stock air box does just fine

MarkTheBoy
Does taking (and leaving) the negative off the battery perform an ecu reset? I assume it does?
Bob
Does taking (and leaving) the negative off the battery perform an ecu reset? I assume it does? Yep. I always tend to leave mine off for about 10 minutes or so to make sure
